the price vancouver paid was to unload 12m in cap space, get retention on the OEL contract and OEL himself as much as to acquire garlands RFA rights. to assume benning viewed OEL as a cap dump in this trade, to artificial enhance the value of garland in trade talks is cringeworthy.So the Canucks gave up the 9th overall and a 2nd as well as taking on OEL’s contract to only trade Garland… what a dumb idea! The return will have to be better than what we gave up, he’s only 25 and on a good deal, he’s young enough to be part of the retool.
