Rangers won’t get top value for Kravstov right now due to reasons listed in this thread. They are better off just keeping him and seeing where it goes. Will someone give up a 2nd and a 5th? They probably would. I’d prefer to see Kravstov at training camp next season since no one is going to pay up with the mid 1st I’d want for him. Maybe he’ll be in our top 6 next year... or back in Russia again... but I’m willing to let it play out.

Ylonen has been impressive and he here's right now, so I completely understand Montreal not wanting to do this, especially when you have to add. But Ylonen doesn't have to suck for NYR fans to not be interested and want to salvage the relationship between Kravtsov and the organization. He's obviously talented. Whether that comes through to the NHL level or not at a legit top 6 player remains to be seen, but he was impressive in those 20 games he played, despite registering only 4 points. I don't think Ylonen puts us over the top here or a better option that Copp/Vatrano in our top 6, so if we're using our best RW chip, I don't think Ylonen is the player to use it on.

this is true despite the fact it was not signif mins w/top quality Fs which is what is needed to establish he is also a 1st line quality F.
Again, Drury, capitulate and play the guy in top 6.

I agree but would Kravtsov return to the Rangers and a putz like Drury. Or is it the same as the Kotkaniemi situation. MB ruined the relationship so there was no point matching the 6.1 because KK would never have re signed. And will he ever get out of Russia? I would only offer less than his value while he is in Russia.

Krav's interest lie w/NHL and this aberration aside, NYR is an emerging young club w/potential for 5+ yr window if they don't get stupid and trade youth for vets. As long as he can be sure he won't get sent down, which is now a given, he is likely to come back and play. It will help if he is assured legit shot at meaningful mins w/top line, as that is his projected ceiling and if he plays well there right away, he is on his way to top re-evaluation.
After that there is a need to step back and reassess.
Trouba can be dealt after 2 more seasons and if I am not mistaken, Panarin's deal is up in 4 years. So he's gotta do min rfa $ and then a short bridge, but he does have a path here.

As a Habs fan this is garbage. The only thing wrong with the Rangers young players is an incompetent coach.

No one is taking Toruba at full cap hit in 2 years unless attached to a great asset.

He isn't worth is contract right now, he won,t be in 2 years either.

Usual anti Ranger bias/nonsense.
Last yr, not as good was worth 6.5, overpaid by 1.5.
Has upped his play. Worth 7+. Still overpaid but not by much.

This will become academic b'c in 2yrs nmc-> limited ntc he can exclude or we can reach out to a third of the league, or something like that, I think. So it is not all 30+ teams. But we only need one and we will take the best offer. Desire to add quality RD will up offers from those who can absorb full cap hit. To get best deal and widen bidders, NY may have to eat 1-2m at most. NY will not have to surrender a primo asset. Teams will pay for quality add, and NY will be looking for picks to max help w/cap; picks are a currency readily available to all teams.

NYR aren't in a position to guarantee any prospect top 6 minutes with their high end players. This isn't a rebuilding team anymore. Fans might thinks we're still ways away from being actual contending cup threats, but no team with Panarin, Zibanejad, Fox, Trouba, Shesterkin, and Kreider will be giving any crap about what a prospect wants or feels they deserve. This team isn't going to allow an assessment period that could get in the way of roster lines they want.
