I'm not a Predators fan but David Poile is an amazing GM

Trades Weber + Jones + Erat for Johansen + Subban + Forsberg

Signs Forsberg to an excellent contract and their core with Josi (insanely underpaid) in already one of the best in the league.

This right here, insane. I think D.Poile has to be one of the best GMs in the league for pulling off all these moves (I really liked Jones though).

I absolutely cannot understand why MTL would do such a thing. Subban is an incredible player and such a valuable member of the community. No disrespect to Weber, but what the actual ****?

Hall for Larsson.:popcorn:I guess that was a big win for the Oilers.

Well i think as a Hab fan i feel bad on this trade but than again i sit back and realize i could be an Oiler fan watching my management give up Hall straight up for Larsson.
At least the Habs got back a proven commodity. A top 10 D-man for a top 10 Dman.
The Oilers traded Top 5 winger for a D-man with the ceiling of becoming a #2.

No you trade a top 5 winger for what will amount to a # 2 D-man.
Not 6 hr ago you would have never traded Hall for anything but a true # 1 but now that the Oilers got takin you're somehow fine with it. Never change Oiler fans.

Pretty sure you're in the wrong thread, dude. Why are you going on about the Oilers when this is about Bergevin gutting hab fans?

Please Understand
Well, it was a 14 year deal that kicked in at the start of the 2012-13 season... but the rest is a mystery to me.

Paul Holmgren decided that Nashville didn't want Weber, so he did a 14 year offer sheet for Weber that Poille took roughly 5 days to match. Even removing individual skill from the trade, Nashville made out like bandits because PK's contract is only for 6 more years, and he's 3 years younger than Weber.

I still can't believe this happened. Holy freaking crap. Unbelievable. God it's gonna suck facing Weber instead of Subban 5, 6 times a year whatever it is. Habs fans don't think so but this deal makes them such a better team than with Subban. No offense but the guy was a high scoring player but not a true shutdown player. Weber on the other hand is.

An excellent point. Nashville is a better team by a long-shot both now and in the future because of these shrewd moves. :handclap:

The Montreal reporter said Bergevin never forgave Subban for the arbitration of 2014.

What is he a 15 year old girl? It's business, you can't hold grudges and put your personal opinion over the team. So stupid.

I've been on record saying I was completely open to trading Hall for a player like Larsson, so you're just wrong on that. Most other Oiler fans seem to hate it, so there ya go.

This is probably the most out of left field thing I have seen a part of on HF. MTL is getting my favourite d man which sucks but I'm happy knowing his contract situation will bite them in the rear end:sarcasm:

Calm down everyone. Weber is a better defenseman right now, allows Montreal to have more cap space and coincidentally, Montreal's window is in the next 3 years. This is a good move for Montreal. Maybe value is a bit off but come on this is two superstars. This is nothing close to a ''fleece''

Do your research. Subban leads Weber in almost every category except goals. You are flat out wrong.

And who cares about $1MM in savings?!

There's a big difference between being "fine" with a trade and being excited about it.

I'm sad we moved Hall, personally we know value wise we didn't win the trade. We addressed a need though. Everyone knew we'd have lose a trade to better allocate resources on ice.

Hall wasn't going to fetch a #1 defenceman in a 1 for 1 trade. In general many of us would have been ok with adding 4th ov with Hall for any of PK Subban, Pietrangelo, etc.

Instead we lucked into Puljujarvi and have Larsson. Would I trade Puljujarvi and Larsson for PK Subban, maybe, but that's not happening. Perhaps everyone need to just accept the situation.

Edmonton and Montreal both lost trades today. I'm not celebrating but I'm looking forward to see what a Klefbom - Larsson pairing looks like moving forward.

Because we have a few Oiler fans coming in and bashing the trade when in fact they did a much worst trade just before this one.

To all the so-called experts out there that call Bergevin names, I am asking:

1) Who is a member of the Canadian team at this year's world cup?

2) Who is a true leader capable of keeping the team tight and united?

3) Who does not have a NTC?

4) Who takes the lesser cap hit?

5) Who's better on the Power Play?

6) Who's got the best physical presence in his own end?

7) Who is creating much less turnovers?

To those that confuse on ice effectiveness with "flashyness" ... think you know who gets the better end of the deal? Think again.
