Steve Ott is one of the most entertaining players in the NHL. Funny how the same people who hated a certain trade because a certain player who was traded was "entertaining" and pumped up his teammates are all of a sudden against entertaining hockey. For years it's been "The NHL is a television event, it has to be entertaining, and players like ____ make it entertaining and bring excitement to their teammates and fans". Now all of a sudden the same people are arguing against entertaining, exciting players being on the team. Guys like Ott will get the whole team going by throwing big hits and getting into the other team's face.

Steve Ott is going to be great to have around, not just as a faceoff specialist but even just as a dressing room guy and a veteran leader who can teach our young guys not to take crap from opposing teams. Did you see the Preds' 4th line last night? They were killing us. We need guys like Ott, especially the closer we get to the playoffs.

I want to see both Ott and Martensen on the 4th line Saturday.

Ott is barely an NHL player at this point.

I hate this player but I'll give him a shot since I've heard he's rebounded this season. Can't help but get the feeling that he'll cost us a very important game in the playoffs due to a penalty though.

The 3 Ottawa games coming up in an 8 day span are going to be even more hilarious with guys like Ott and Burrows potentially playing in them.

And was told by many posters that Benn was as slow as Douglas Murray.........:shakehead

I put zero into what posters tell me about another teams player

Did I ever comment on Benn's hockey skills ? No, if you go through the thread you'll notice I explicitely mentioned I didn't know much about him as I don't follow the Stars. So why two posters jumped on something so unrelated I have no idea, unless you two think anyone who doesn't share your enthousiasm for 4th line scrubs all have the same opinions on every single NHL player.

You barely notice when Ott is playing these days. He'll skate hard, defend players and be good at faceoffs, all for the price of having some of the worst everything else in the league, confirmed by stats as well.

did i mention Andrei79 or "many posters"?

Every time, and I mean every time Bergevin aquires a player, I have to read through wave after wave of posts on how horrible the player is, how dumb the GM is, how we gave too much, how we should've got this player instead, how it's a foxhole move.........

Yet more often then not, the player is decent, plays well, ends up playing well over his head. Bergevin has more often then not, won his trades.

I'd rather see them sitting in the 4th row.

Would you rather have a 4th line of....

DD-Mitchell-Flynn

??

Can't hit, sets no tempo, can't score, intimidates no one, weak, small, okay skating......it's a useless line

Not me.......So glad to see some uneasiness in our lineup for a change.......A couple weeks ago teams were laughing at our 4th line...........not today, nor tomorrow.

Not sure why you don't want some physicality on our fourth line.

Are you that content with Flynn and McCaron?

Physicality, yeah. Bring it on. But not at the expense of talent. We added Benn on the back end. We added King up front. We subtracted Desharnais. Habs are no longer pushovers. Stacking the deck with even more beef isn't going to add any goals. Mitchell, despite his endless cold spell, still has a far higher chance at contributing points than Steve Ott.

As for McCarron, he's got the physicality. But unlike Ott, he's more likely to improve and learn the more he plays.

Is it ok to want to punch a player despite him being on your team? There is just something about Ott

Agreed. I'm going to have to stick post-it reminders all over the TV to cheer for this guy. It won't come naturally.

But to be fair, let's give him a chance. Maybe he really has rebounded, as some have suggested.
