I honestly don't care, as long as MB gets a top line forward today, then I will be happy.

The good thing is, he's the same player as Burrows and he was significantly cheaper.

This pushes Ghetto down the depth chart IMO, it's a good thing as he's a middle-6 backup - not a 4th line regular or even back-up, he's not built to play that way. I prefer to see the Carr/Ghetto types on the 3rd line when one of the guys goes down with injury, and seeing Ott raise hell on the 4th line in the playoffs. It's not like CJ rolls 4 lines no matter what (like MT), he knows exactly what he's been given and will use him accordingly.

If another Gryba/Eller incident happens... unleash them all (Ott, Shaw, Gally, BigMac).

If he wins one extra faceoff we come out ahead.

Such frikkin drama over a player who costs almost nothing.

Seriously.

And I'd rather have Ott as a rental with a 800K cap hit for the price of just a 6th Round Pick than have Burrows at 4.5M with a 2 year extension for the price of a 19 year old prospect currently in the 2nd-tier Swedish League (Allsvenskan) who has 24G - 18A - 42pts in 44 games.

Apparently habs went after Hansen and he refused the trade. Something about eller telling him to stay away from montreal. Can't blame him.

Listening to Lars Eller in the first place is a probably a good clue that the guy wouldn't have been a good fit and that we're better without him.

I have no problem with this trade, he won't get many games and will try and stand out when he does. Ott,Shaw and Gallagher, that is sewer quality right there.

Ott replaces Desharnais as a 4th line center. I buy it, I guess.

This is our first trade for a rental and it's a 6th round pick. Typical Bergevin.

We have 24 players right now, I expect McCarron down or Andrighetto gone.

Andrighetto gone is about as big of a loss as DD gone.

There was time when the injury bug hit and the Habs didn't have Brendan Gallagher or Shaw playing the agitator role....and there was nobody left on the team to play that style of game...

Ott is insurance

Ott does have 55 games of playoffs experience.

Honestly, Ott over Flynn, Mitchell, Andrighetto or McCarron is fine with me. Those 4 have been about as ineffective as you can be.

Ott is a perfect bottom 6 player! Habs just became much tougher to play against.

He is better than Than DD, so I'm not complaining. Sure, he doesn't score goals, but you have to ask yourself, who would you rather have centering the 4th line- Ott or McCaron? (If we still have MCacaron.)

Ott has always played great against the Habs. Gritty agitator, great bodychecker, good on pk, great at faceoffs. Veteran locker room guy.

Since Boyle and Hanzal were traded, Ott seems like the nexlevel available. For a 6th round pick? Sounds good.

He is 34, not 40. For the playoffs this could be great. However i guess that means McCarron goes back to AHL and continues his development there instead. I guess the coaches feel he is still far from ready.

This +1. :yo:

Ott is dirty and turtles all the time, it's a shame he's now part of this organization.

I'm fine with McCarron going back to the AHL. The NHL game is way too fast for him right now and it's only getting faster and more intense.

Some fams absolutely kill me. Pretending like Ott is the worst move ever

Flynn is hot garbage, Ghetto is a tweener and absolutely useless on the 4th line. And McCarron, is NOT ready for primetime. Another lackluster game yesterday too. Not surprised- and for a 6th rounder- its a good move.

This +1

Great to see some clear thinking Hab fans out there.

I agree, they have not done anything. I was higher on McCarron because of what I hoped he would become but he is either not ready for the NHL or never will be.
