The price paid is alright, not a fan of the player whatsoever.

That being said if he gets McCarron back in the AHL and can win some face offs for us, he probably has a role here as much as I dislike him.

Ott has always played great against the Habs. Gritty agitator, great bodychecker, good on pk, great at faceoffs. Veteran locker room guy.

Since Boyle and Hanzal were traded, Ott seems like the nexlevel available. For a 6th round pick? Sounds good.

He is 34, not 40. For the playoffs this could be great. However i guess that means McCarron goes back to AHL and continues his development there instead. I guess the coaches feel he is still far from ready.

WOW I was trying to figure out why OTT, until I remembered the Habs play Ottawa 3 times soon. What should we all remember about the Sens this time of the year. It's J. Neil time. this is when he does his thing. Maybe that why MB got our own cannon fodder to counter Neil. If OTT goes off for 5mins fighting it's NO BIG DEAL.

I think every minor trade gets criticized by fans. It's as if GMs were only allowed to trade for superstars. Everytime Habs acquire a bottom 6 forward or a bottom 2 D, you hear the same complaints that we don't need more depth players. I would also love Bergevin to acquire top 6 players to put in a bottom 6 role, but you have to give a lot to receive a lot. Ott costs basically nothing so there's no downside to this trade.

Anyway, with our current surplus of LHD and with the expansion draft coming, I think Beaulieu won't be a Hab anymore tomorrow and that a top 6 player will come our way.

how about a top 6 player... for the top 6 ?? I mean, unless you think we've had an aboundance of top 6 players over the last few years...

and yeah, it cost more to get better players... for a ****ing simple reason -> they are better players <- than the ones acquired with a cond. 7th you know...

not overpaying or not getting fleeced is fun I guess, but that doesnt give the Habs a solid top 6...

We have enough 4th liners lmao.

Unless McCarron is being sent down or traded...

Ott makes 24 roster players. That's NG.

Either we have an injury we don't know about yet, or we put someone on waivers or one of McCarron or Lehkonen was sent down. Probably McCarron.

A sixth in a crap draft for a gritty bottom 6 C who can win faceoffs (something Habs badly needed)

Absolutely nothing to complain about here, now we wait and see what too 6er we are moving one of Beaulieu or Emelin plus for.

At first, this is a bit of a headscratcher...........then I thought, this must be an ask from Clod...he probably feels we are too easy to play against, especially as we enter the playoffs. Ott is good on face offs, and that;s a plus...

I mean really, since this past month, Chucky, Max, Rads, and Dano...other than that, our forwards have been beyond suckage...so this is a low cost and very effective move.

Today, address the top 6 and we should be good to go!!

Some fams absolutely kill me. Pretending like Ott is the worst move ever

Flynn is hot garbage, Ghetto is a tweener and absolutely useless on the 4th line. And McCarron, is NOT ready for primetime. Another lackluster game yesterday too. Not surprised- and for a 6th rounder- its a good move.

Well not that much of a fan of the player. Still, 2 things here....we paid nothing. And no matter how you look at this people.....he's better than what we have in the bottom 6. So as little effect as it is.....the REALITY of things is....we improved without giving nothing.

Ott replaces Desharnais as a 4th line center. I buy it, I guess.

This is our first trade for a rental and it's a 6th round pick. Typical Bergevin.

We have 24 players right now, I expect McCarron down or Andrighetto gone.

good move. anything is better than having that useless Flynn playing. just skates around doing absloutly nothing. and Mitchell other than the first 30 games has been awful now he can sit couple of games and hopefully it will spark him again

He may be able to teach Chucky and Danault about faceoffs too. That wouldn't be a bad thing. I do like the attempt to improve the PK as well. The 6th means nothing. But this still doesn't address the need for a top 6 Center.

Ott allows MB TO MAKE more trades. With Davison, benn and Ott, a lot of under achieving players, guys who aren't scoring, are now available to trade. Just hope he makes a least one great, like WOW,, trade today.
