You have no idea how Nazar is going to turn out given that he's going to have a surgery and be out until at least Feb, it could impact his development but hopefully it doesn't.

Oh agree with you. As a Habs fan, i'm so happy that we grab a potential 1st line player with Kirby Dach. 26 points in 70 last year, he need to put 7 points in his next 44 games to catch his last production. That's insane.

He doesn't have character issues, he had Injury issues and didn't get the chance to play. He can skate with good hockey sense he will be a top 6 fwd.

think we can agree on the latter but it was definitely a different situation for him in Chicago. He definitely seemed frustrated and stagnated, and there were attitude/morale issues obviously in the locker room as well with front office and not to mention our brainiac coach. Sad to say his lack of development could have been based on those issues.

Of course you can't call him an elite center yet because as of right now he's a full time winger but it isn't unusual for potential elite centers to get serious reps on the wing before the coach trusts him with first line center duty .
I've noticed a trend where coaches will put more C's in the lineup so that they can have one lefty and one righty to take faceoffs as needed. Both Suzuki and Dach are right handed, but i think the next step in Dach's progression is to take up a hybrid winger/center role, maybe alongside Monahan on the 2nd line. When he is used to that, maybe he can become the C we are hoping we got when we picked him up. They tried him at C a few times and i got the sense that it's too much for him right now.

What makes Dach a bad center is his faceoff prowess, +/- 35% is clearly not enough.

Because he's good at the added defensive responsabilities that come with the position.

If Habs want him at center one day, he'll have to improve his faceoff success rate.

Jack Eichel says nuh uh.

It is kind of interesting that no name player Riley McKay has been following Dach around since their junior days, I had never heard that before.

But what is the guy inferring lmao? That Dach has a bad attitude and demands his buddy gets a deal? This guy has blackmail on Dach? That he is so unliked he's only ever had one friend? That they are homosexual?

Like what is the accusation

I won't get into the whole "Romanov or Nazar instead of Dach" debate, because it is puerile, useless, and too soon to judge.

But I will say that I've liked Dach's play a lot this year. His speed for a big guy, playmaking, and ability to protect the puck have been a godsend for matching with Suzuki and Caufield. And his defensive play has been solid as a winger. He's also been good possession-wise, and 5-on-5.

That said, there's a couple things that Dach will need to improve if he wants to stay there long-term as a top-6 guy. First and more importantly, he needs to get a lot less cute with the puck, and shoot more.

I know that his shot pales in comparison to his linemates', but often Dach has grade-A shooting lanes because defenders check Caufield and Suzuki tighter (being your team's primary offensive cogs and elite shooters does that to you), and he still elects to pass.

Then you add in the fact that Dach must also be more consistent as a player. He has games where everything comes together and he looks like a world-beater with size, skill, will, and speed. Other times he looks a lot less visible.

And lastly, Dach has been more physical this year than he was in Chicago but he must still learn to come into his own more along the boards. He has the frame, strength, skating, and hockey IQ to be a real menace there instead of just "good", as he's been for us this year.

Anyways, that's it from me. Cheers, and have a good evening. I know I will.

Dach is cheap, plays good with his linemates. Why the need to score many goals in a line with 2 great shooters???
It's clear he's a class below Caufield and Suzuki, but playing with them he can only get better.

Look who he is playing with though. Why he is getting the assists. The guy couldn't put the puck in the ocean
Hmm I have been watching hockey for nearly 50 years and I didn't know that before you compliment a player on his point totals you had to make sure he line mates were bad.

I mean there are lots of guys in the hall of fame for being line mates with guys like Gretz or Lemieux who wouldn't be there if not for them.

There is also talent there. I mean just playing with Suzuki and Caufield doesn't mean you get points. I bet Pazetta would be shit with them. Dach has the talent to hang with them.....

Yup a few guys from the Oilers in the 80s.

Glen Anderson and Jari Kurri. Great players or good players turned great from playing with Gretz and Messier?

That being said there are also several Habs that probably got a boost form playing with monsters....
That’s two….also Jarri Kurri is not a Hall of Famer, you say ?

Interesting.
