Still too early to call a W...imo. Though it is impressive that all 3 fan bases still seem to be happy with the trade.
I would be upset as a Hawks fan to see Dach production in MTL (12 pts/14 games). As much upset if KK would have the same production in Carolina, but this is not the case.
Nazsr is fine, but to say he is a top 6 forward, we are clearly not there at the moment

Habs fans are hard to take seriously. maybe not every habs fan plenty of good ones but you should know the ones Im talking about

KK is the greatest ever and will be the greatest - traded now he sucks balls
Romanov before got nothing but praise and was on his way to becoming a solid 4 Dman - gone now so he's now shit with barely any room to grow his game.
Dach has miles more room to grow still, let me guess if he was traded tomorrow his room to grow would be much much smaller
god.... just so over the top on both sides of the coin

Oh please dude. Nobody said KK is the greatest ever, and some like myself still think highly of him. Most of us still LOVE Romanov.

Dach's set to break his career high in points in no time. He's having a career year and is a 21 year old 3rd OA pick.

This is a hockey forum, where fans discuss hockey players.

If that's too much for you to handle, ignore the thread - because you're not talking about hockey players your just imagining bad takes to try to rag on a fanbase.

Lol get out of of here. Funny how multiple players have been tried on that line and done jackshit. He's doing better than Toffoli did back in the day. Dvorak won't be the 2nd line C long term. Are you too busy stat watching or did you not see how Beck did at camp? Admit when you're wrong and move on.
His takes on the team and player evaluations are always brutal, so no surprise there.

It probably will but we won't know the Hawk side for a while. It depends on how the lost D+1 season affects Nazar. I still think Nazar is a damn good prospect but we'll see. I'm expecting him to spend two full seasons at Michigan.
What happened to Nazar? Why is he not playing?

The thing is... this thread was pretty quiet when he has his slow start. He's had a good 6 game stretch and now it's become this amazing trade. It will be interesting to see if he can keep this up.

And if his production drops off, the opposing fanbases will be in this thread whopping it up with glee.

So really, its a polarizing thread that is fueled by knuckleheads from all fansbases, and not just Habs fans. This round, its Habs fans yucking it up. Give it a month and it will be opposing fan bases.

For me, as a Habs fan, Dach's production is befitting his play. Even when he wasn't producing he was playing well. I think the plan is to keep Dach with Suzuki / Caufield to build confidence and offensive instincts.

What people do not realize is that half the time, Dach is playing C on the top line. Having 2 x C's allows either Dach or Suzuki to attack down low in the offensive zone while the other hangs high in a defensive posture. The only difference is Suzuki is taking the faceoffs.

well I suppose you would be part of the good fans I wasnt directing that towards then wouldn't you? no reason to get upset especially if the comment wasnt directed at you.

In terms of moving a young player, who was just 21 (and was rushed into the NHL), it always comes down to whether you still believe in that player and whether you can develop him into what you expected.

Decades ago, when Montreal dealt LeClair to Philly, they tried for years, feeding him top minutes, to become the power forward they wanted. He never panned out until he was moved to Philly. Sometimes, that happens.

Chicago wasn't developing him and now are into a deep long rebuild. DCat is gone, and looking at the remainder of the roster, there's not really anyone that you expect to be there at the start of the 2024/2025 season, with the exception of Seth Jones, due to his contract, but I imagine both sides would like to see a trade made. Not the ideal environment to be trying to develop a young player.

Isles wanted a LHD to play with Dobson. Signed for a $2.5 mill AAV and is averaging 20 minutes a game. Works for them given their pick was #13. At that spot you are typically waiting 2 years for the kid to make the roster, so the Isles were able to speed that up and hit the ground running. That's worth giving up the elc years to move it along given their current roster.

Montreal, Dach is producing, though playing wing not C. First is to get him producing. If he can keep close to this type of production if/when they shift him back to C, it's a clear W for them to move off Romanov with their depth at LD coming through the pipeline. If he stays on the Wing, it's stll a solid move, but not as good as they had hoped given their need at C.

I probably wouldn't be too happy either. But since they're building more for the future than we are. They have time to be patient and see how this all unveils.

I will say that I thought MTL overpaid on a guy trending down. Although at the same time I thought Chicago was selling too early on the kid. I’ll gladly admit to being wrong. I haven’t seen much of MTL this year, but it’s looking like a great move.

These types of trades are always a gamble for all teams involved. At the time of the trade hordes were blasting the Habs and claiming how badly they lost. Now that Dack has produced a bit Hab fans are blasting back to all those who criticized the trade because it was the Habs.
It seems we got what we were looking for so what happens to the other 2 teams involved is none of my concern.

Rumor is sports hernia surgery, but unconfirmed. All we know for sure is that he had surgery and will miss most or all of the season.
Yeesh, those are scary surgeries. Hernia put an end to Ladd's useful part of his career and Nolan Patrick got slowed by one in his draft year and I don't know if he ever recovered.

Patrick later found out he needed hernia surgery on the other side as well afterwards.

fine I can agree with you on that but I think KK was the worst. the day before he was traded he was viewed as a potential star then the next day he was viewed at a bottom 6 player and a bum. I can get that though was a shady way to lose a player and fans were pissed.
He was never traded so you seem confused about a few things.

Even if he’s a wing and gives you 60ish points a year that’s a win. Of course, if he can do that as a 2C or give you more it’s a grand slam. Isles won too. Chicago is yet to be seen, but I get them looking to reset. Hopefully, all 3 teams win.

He didn't really play with Kane/Debrincat last year

He was mostly stuck with 3rd/4th liners, can't really expect much out of him in that scenario.

To be fair, linemates were never the issue with him the last couple seasons.

He had chances with Kane, Toews, Debrincat, Kubalik, and Hagel. All top 6 guys. And when he wasn't with those guys, he seemingly was never even the best player on his line.

Glad he is doing well so far in MTL.

I hope it's a win-win-win case lol
Romo is a solid top 4 player on a cheap contract and Dach is straight up kicking ass. He's leathal on Big Dick Nick's wing

As a hab fan,you might be wrong, but it's too early to say anyone is right, or wrong.

did this come from his teammates or is it a ripoff of the american footballer?

Not sure who the footballer is but it's been a thing for years now.

There was even some official Habs hype video that had that in it. Edit: No sorry, that was "Big Nick Energy"

Lol I'm sure his teammates don't call him big dick Nick. That'd be kinda weird after a while.
