Does anyone know how bad Dach's wrist injury was? Is he still healing? Was it looking better at the end of the year? He had one goal, five points in his last 15 games but he was averaging at least 15 minutes a game. Does he look like someone who is going to develop into a defensive specialist?

So the difference between acquiring Dach or Debrincat boils down to a mere second round pick. Mind-boggling.

the story I saw on twitter was that the Hawks had an offer for the 11th OA pick so the Habs added the 66th OA pick to 13th OA.

Many posters pointed out he had to play against the opposition's strongest defenders. The Hawks were in dismay last season, and they had scandals worse than the catholic church, and their team totally collapsed. Look how Caufield was able to find his game back with a new coach, same could apply to Dach. Dach injuried his wrist and it prevented him to progress. In Dach you have a bigger, younger, more creative and better skating KK. Maybe you're right and he busts but don't think you can't do the opposite of what you're doing through rhetoric.

It's concerning that a guy so much better than KK, has a hard time outproducing him, while playing with elite wingers. The injury happened a year and a half ago, if it's still bothering him, we are in deep trouble. Your points about the Hawks environment are legitimate, let's hope that he's not ruined for good and that the new management can put him back on the track. As Habs fans, we already watched that movie, we saw Galchy, KK, Drouin turn from promising players into busts or nearly busts.

I'm ready to wait, at least for a season to see...

Completly disagre to this. For me, Dach doesnt value a top 15 pick right, maybe a 25-30OV.

If you pick 15, you exactly know what you get there. The habs bought a player with a wish of a major change of scenery.
I can’t agree with that. If you pick 15, you ll only know in a few years what you get. That player can be a top 6 forward or never play a single game in the NHL. Dach is at least a top 9 forward who might become an offensive two way center behind Suzuki. We ll see in a few years.

Wow! A week ago a lot of Hab fans were saying Romanov was untouchable and a sure fire future top pairing guy. Now he’s packaged with a couple of picks for Dach.
Things sure changed quickly.
Can you link me to all these Habs fans that had him as a sure fire top pair guy? He was a VERY popular player but is an offensive black hole - 19 points in 133 games - and has positioning issues. He was scratched during the Cup run and when in played 12 mins a night, There is nothing in his game that gave any indication of being a top pairing guy.

Seriously, anyone that had him pegged as a sure fire top pair guy doesn't know much about hockey. Maybe he finds an offensive side to his game and figures out the d zone, if not his comps are guys like Gudas and Emelin. Guhle is likely already a better player.

You keep saying he played with elite wingers but another poster posted that he played something like 180 of his 1300 minutes with Kane and Debrincat. Can you share your data source?

When he was not playing with at least one of Kane and DeBrincat, if not both, he was also playing with Hagel, who was on fire with the Hawks.

But the data here is not complete, they are not showing all his minutes.

Those things aren't mutually exclusive in the sense that the decision makers aren't posting here

I think Dubois is the backup plan in 2 years. The 2023 draft is no guarantee as you still have to finish bottom 3 and there is no guarantee of that.

No one was saying Romanov was sure fire future top pairing guy. To be a top pairing guy you need to produce offense and Romanov has never done that in any league in his career. Romanaov is a strong 2nd pairing dman who will make big hits.

Habs traded a bonafide top-4 dman for a potential top-6 C.
Next year's draft has something like 7 centers in the top 10

Their plan must be to have a real 1c with Suzuki and dach as the 2nd and 3rd line centre.
His tongue will be hanging out by the end of each game...

Yeah, this is almost an exact repeat of the Drouin trade. We traded a high potential young Russian defense prospect for a struggling former 3OA pick.
Except Dach is a center who is expected to be a 3c at first to properly develop while Drouin was a winger who was put in the #1 C position but yeah almost exact repeat right!?!?

Dach's ceiling is way higher than anyone available at 13, maybe even in the entire draft! He's had a serious injury, and a rough year following that injury, on a mediocre team as well, so to be honest, I am really thrilled by this trade.
Hope you are right

Dach hasn't shown he is capable of playing NHL center at this point and was moved to wing at times this past year

There are alot of things about Dach that are still? and that included if he can actually be regarded as a viable NHL C

While Dach is technically a center he ended up playing a lot of wing as time went on.
He can’t win a faceoff to save his life and doesn’t have a good shot. Decent but not great puck handler but plays small for a big man.
I’m glad Chicago moved him while he still had value.

Blackhawks got really good value. They rushed Dach and ruined his development. He’s not going to stick at center, best hope is that he becomes a scoring winger. Maybe he can be a scoring winger later in his career like a Tage Thompson, but Tage has a lot more athletic and skating advantages.

Who keeps their balls hairy ?
Very good question. Assumed answer is no one but it’s kinda an odd question to ask people that you don’t know pretty good.

Just before the draft Habs fans wouldn’t or didn’t want to add Romanov to Anderson while trying to get pick #2 off of NJ…….

Now he was nothing special because his offence looks like it won’t be good enough …….

I remember Romanov was listed as untouchable in the “MTL trades for 2nd overall” thread(s)
Okay. We have one guy who remembers an untouchable reference. No direct quote or poster name but alright. No memory of the "sure fire future top pairing" part (because it didn't happen).

I guess when we only had Romanov and Edmundson on the left side - since we moved Chiarot and Kulak out - and little cap space, few people thought they'd be moving Romanov. I don't think anyone saw the trade coming... But if you're Kent Hughes being offered the 13th overall pick which leads to getting a big young center that fits with your vision of the rebuild, you pull the trigger.

Most Habs fans were shocked by the trade, as Romanov seemed like a good fit, and most wished him all the best.

But when all you do is try to generalize and insult an entire fan base in an attempt to score cheap likes, you don't need to rely on things like facts.
