Don't rush players to the NHL. Unless they're elite, let them marinate for at least 1 more year. Dach has 19 goals in almost 152 games. That's terrible. Faceoffs are terrible. Don't see him as a winger. So what is he? Looks to be not engaged way too often. Trade will do him good but I wonder if he was just drafted too high which create false expectations.

Dach is going to play #3 C, behind two very responsible guys in Suzuki and Dvorak. Add in #4C Evans and he will have a ton of support. Should get very favorable minutes with some pretty good wingers, guys that have / project 20+ goals. Add in MSL as coach and the is going to be put in a position to succeed.

Love me some Romo but his upside is less then Dach IMO and we have a stack of D prospects. Team is most definitely better, and with Slaf, Anderson and Dach that is a big forward group.

While most Habs fans are freaking out, I love where this team is headed and we have a bunch of guys that will be moved at TDL's over the next 2 years, going to have stack of picks going forward.

Completly disagre to this. For me, Dach doesnt value a top 15 pick right, maybe a 25-30OV.

If you pick 15, you exactly know what you get there. The habs bought a player with a wish of a major change of scenery.
This was my general view as well. It’s an expensive price to pay for what sounds like has already shown at the NHL level he’s a toss-up as far as future potential

A big thing for Dach next year other than MSL is that he'll be the 2/3C next year.

In Chicago he was facing top pairing with Montreal he'll be getting 2nd/2rd pairing guys. Should help him get some confidence.

...that clip shows Dach getting beat by the best D-man in the League...and Dach's own D teammates ridiculously leaving him out to dry as the LD should have taken Makar when he went low to stop the chance...should we also find the odd clips of EVERYONE ELSE in the League getting beat by Makar and getting no help from their D??...cuz we'll be here a while...:dunno:

Dvorak and Suzuki are good defensivey???

Come on there... Dvorak is bang-on avg... while Suzuki was - 209939 in last 35 games ...they scored 50 while conceiding 78787....

Suzuki was brutal defensively last year mate...look at his numbers with Caufield... just brutal... they scored some meaningless goall...but you cannot paly that style and hope too win games.

...yup, all the scouts/coaches/hockey people are wrong about his defensive game and you're right...dunno how you don't have a job with an NHL Franchise...

He cannot do both...not right now.... he's either producing 75pts and being - 25 or producing 45-50 and being plus 5...

Word that i've heard on Dach is that his parents are quite overbearing dating back to junior and it trickled into the nhl a bit. The sooner he grows up and takes control of his own career and development the sooner he will live up to his draft position.

Trading a defenseman for a forward that was drafted 3 OA has never worked out poorly for Montreal before…

Yeah, this is almost an exact repeat of the Drouin trade. We traded a high potential young Russian defense prospect for a struggling former 3OA pick.

Dach imo if he becomes a lower scoring version of what he was projected, a 2C with a good 2 way game but say 55 - 60 points that’s probably a fair expectation. If he hits higher it’s a very good deal for Montreal.

Hahah will the rest of the league be so nice to give us good picks and prospects for our players ?

Romanov trade was very good for the Habs.
Taking what they got in return amd gambling on Dach being better than Nazar or whoever else was there at 13…. was the shits.
But when they decided to go Slafkovsky over a centre , they had to do something to add a C.
I think it will bite them in the ass down the road when they are still searching for a top 6 C when they could have had one at 1 overall this year.
Seems to be the only way to get a top centre is to draft one or hope that when they can become a free agent , they grew up wanting to play for your team like pajamas boy Tavares .

Hoepfully Dach is a good 3c option for the Habs one day .

I'm a Devils fan and what I can say is that I wish we cut bait on Zacha as fast as CHI did with Dach.

I think most of the time it does not burn you to be pragmatic about a player like this, instead of waiting for the Aha moment. You have all the information, on top of knowing what other better players look like on a daily basis. Not everyone is Nichushkin.

Would surprise me as Hughes said last week the one thing he doesn’t miss about being an agent was overbearing parents, either that or he doesn’t have to care as the GM

They did last year. 2 firsts and a former first for Leks, Chiarot and Toffoli. We have Dvorak, Byron, Petry, Armia, Hoffman, Allen and possibly Anderson all ready to be moved in the next 1-3 years. So ya, the league will be ready to do the same thing they always do, overpay for vets on expiring deals at the deadline. There will be no shortage of draft picks.
