Trying to be objective, the most notable and criminal absences on the top 50 are IMO, Niku, Andersson, and Liljegren.
All three have a better shot to be NHL'ers than a number of players on that list and too little weight is being placed in the AHL for defenseman that have showed good productivity for their age group.
While I don't disagree that scoring rates are more transferable between other pro leagues, my opinion is that is puts more weight on forwards vs D-men.....and IMO some of the numbers I've seen are skewed historically in the sense that more weight should be placed on the AHL, particularly for defenseman, based on recency (developmental powerhouses- see Tampa using it as a more viable feeder system.........decline of KHL, SHL in last several years....and because the "small ice surface" argument for defenseman is absolutely a real thing.
That, and the notable Habs bias for one guy I wouldn't even put in my top 100 (Juulsen), if considered a prospect.......and another guy I don't see much potential in at all (Mete). Poehling and Kotkaniemi are fine, however. Was high on both in their draft years (Kotk is pushing the peak his stock though, relative to draft position).
