I hear sometimes people blaming Toronto fans for running off goaltenders out of Toronto, but can you blame them with goaltending on this dumpster fire of a level? Sure, they have defensive issues, but it goes well above and beyond that and anyone with eyes can see that.

I honestly can’t find one positive thing to say about Petr Mrazek’s game at any point this season. I think he may be had one good game the entire season, but that was mainly due to Toronto not letting hardly any shots on him throughout the entire game.

Jacq Campbell has been pretty bad for the last three months, but at least he played solid for the first few months, Petr Mrazek has been awful all season.

Pretty much too late in the season to do much about that now, getting a rental isn’t going to change things in the playoffs, both goaltenders have been awful for months.

Mrazek is always misreading the play. Too aggressive at times and gets burned on weird bounces or back door plays, or he's too deep in the net and can't read a point shot to save his life. And he lets these things in at bad, inopportune times too. He's just a very unprofessional goalie and completely unlikeable.

I don't buy the blame the fans narrative. For a decade we seamlessly transitioned from to Potvin>Cujo>Belfour.

The guys since just haven't been that great.

I've never once been impressed with Mrazek this season, or any season. He feels like a washed backup goalie we're putting all our hopes on.

Trade for ANYTHING else.

A couple of things can be true, Mrazek is far too busy in his crease, he takes the shooter every time expecting his d-men to take care of the other attackers. Peter is fighting the puck.

If we are not going to get Vaselvesky in a trade, we need to pick up 2 more big defenders who can keep the front of the net clean. Sandin and Lily are dumpster fires in their own end, they are young , learning the game and making mistakes that gives far too many chances to the opposite team.

I still can't fathom how the Leafs gave out the Mrazek contract. It's too many dollars and especially too much term for a mediocre (at best) goalie. If management thought he's actually a very good goalie who would ultimately be worth it, what does that say about their judgement? On top of his poor play, he hasn't exactly been a beacon of perfect health historically.

If I compare to the Ritchie deal, in that case there was no realistic way to predict his performance would be as poor as it was. It seemed like a more reasonable deal and risk which unfortunately just didn't work. There is no way I could make a similar case for the Mrazek.

Well, I think if he was putting up around his career average (.910 or so) I think it is a fine deal/probably market value. However he is playing nowhere near his past play. I know people scoff at the 'tough market' thing, but maybe we are seeing that here? It is odd for a goalie who has played at around a league average to play so poorly for such an extended period of time.

In hindsight it's crazy he got an extra dollar or year more than Big Save Dave Rittich, if you were in the market for unreliable Czech goaltending.

How about a gofundme for Mrazek to retire? If 7 million can be raised, he can take it all if he retires.

Especially behind a defense which has not been all that bad in front of him.

His GAA at 3.48. His xGA/60 with him in net is 2.59, and even part of that is his own doing with the rebounds he gives up (he is around average in that regard though).

Campbell is at a 2.65 on the season. His xGA/60 is 2.52.

Not many goalies have it better than that in the NHL right now. Even if we want to look at rush chances against, HD shots against, etc... They have it easier than pretty much everyone who doesn't play for Calgary, Seattle (really ironic given they have had 2022 Leafs goaltending all year), Tampa, and Boston; and Tampa/Calgary don't have it much easier (i.e. the difference could be directly closed by things the goalie themselves can control, such as rebounds).

If Campbell was playing well you can give Mrazek a chance to work through things in practice.

You can point a lot of fingers including to the goalie coach but pretty sure the goalie coach in Bantam even will tell you to cover the post better than he did from that shot in the corner yesterday.

Is it time for the ZOMBIE to arise from the ashes...Michael Hutchinson who has a career NHL GAA only .004 lower than Petr.

Not much can be done here .. we can't give up AAV in a trade .. go to kids and see what we got .. fans will be surprised .. likely buyout in summer from new regime in charge for Dubie's 3 year error

I liked what I saw from Kallgren, he seemed calm in net while Mrazek is all over the place. Go with Kallgren next game and go from there and hope somehow he pulls one of those fluke rookie seasons for us lol

Dubas on Mrazek: "He’s a veteran guy that’s been able to overcome this in the past,” Dubas said, “and we believe that he will.”

The eternally faithful GM ...
But if he was being totally honest he would've replaced the "we believe" in that quote to "I am praying against all logic and reason".

Mrazek's redemption games were a shitshow. They should turn to Kallgren, Woll, maybe even Hutch to see if any can pull a good or good enough stint while Mrazek get's to step aside & work on his game with Steve Briere & whichever sports psychologist(s).

I think an on-the-fly reset with help could be what he needs; we've also seen in the past certain AHL goalie callups having good stints because they have the power of goalie voodo atm.

This all day. Sometimes rookies are oblivious to the insane amount of pressure being a goalie on this team is. Mrazek knows he has to be good, and the harder he tries the worse he gets. Just swimming out there.

Go with a rookie with nothing to lose. Mrazek has everything to lose, and is losing everything.

Sure, I mean let’s burn up a sizeable chunk of the season so your random goalie acquisition can find himself.

He reminds me of Toskala. I don't think he can handle the pressure of playing in this market.

It's probably time to look into options to move on.

Never mind Mrazuck has no rebound control whatsoever, never mind he’s leaky, he over plays literally everything. Even that glove save yesterday, I thought his arm was going to fall off. The Carolina system flattered him, this isn’t a 1A, confidence is one thing but he’s just bad technically.

I've never seen who a goalie who swats at pucks with his catching mitt and put the puck out into the slot as much as he did yesterday. I commented in the GDT at the beginning of the game that he looked like he was out of control, losing position and his net in the process. I guess what he and Briere worked on on Saturday didn't sink in. He has terrible mechanics and that's not going to improve this year. Cut bait somehow, someway...minors, trade, waivers, anything.
