That Anaheim was only looking for 8th or 9th was never confirmed. It was just something that a few fans decided on their own was the case.

The 8th or 9th is at least a known quantity, as in they had a target player in mind. An ambiguous first round pick and a second line winger that makes the exact same amount of money?

Edmonton wants a RHD so they will have to overpay a bit. Colorado will like to get a d-man back for Barrie. RNH is expendable because the Oilers have Draisaitl and don't need him on a 3rd line. That gives him a chance to move up. If Oilers get this trade and with what they have done since June they will make the playoffs I belive which is their intentions. Maybe a 2nd round pick back from Colorado would fit in too I guess. As a fan of hockey I think It is a good offer and would be great for both teams.

So MacKinnon for Fowler is fair?

You have a gm who just gave up Hall for Larsson... Anyway dmen seem to return quite a lot back so you need to give Drai or near to get a guy like Barrie

I cringe every time a fellow Oiler fan brings up Pouliot to ANA. I think there's some truth to it but I'm sure it wasn't for Fowler or Vatanen.

Okay, well, I look at the dougie hamilton trade as a comparable for Barrie. Very similar situations. 1st, 2nd, 3rd value wise - Fowler has a good contract but it's done in 2 years... We can say it's around the same value or whatever. So just value wise 1st round pick + pouliot (2nd round value) + yak (3rd round value) isn't that far off. There's obviously salary involved in the deal but anaheim also gets NHL players instead of futures. Perhaps a little bit of money retained by Edmonton and that's the sort of move that Anaheim is trying to make, no?

I don't think all these rumoured pieces are super far off.

I'm asking this as a serious question and not to offend anyone, but what are the Ducks plans for expansion with their current team. Are they able to buyout Bieksa before the expansion draft or are they stuck protecting him? If they are then wouldn't Fowler or Vatanen be on their way out regardless?

I really like Barrie and I think he's very good - but he's not by far the better player compared to RNH. RNH is good man. The difference is Colorado is looking to trade Barrie and Edmonton isn't looking to trade RNH. Yes I believe PC wants to keep 3 centers - that's OP in the NHL.

That's not even close to being true. The only thing we know is that BM asked about Pouliot at the TDL before he got injured. No mention was made about the return and it certainly wouldn't have been Vatanen. You really think we've just signed a guy to a 5M x 4yr deal we were thinking of moving at the TDL for Pouliot+?

Keep it simple and fair.
