Not much chance of that. There should be considerable interest in Barrie from many teams and the price will reflect that.
Edmonton has a lot of similarly rated assets. I honestly don't mind an overpay of a single player, it's when you start adding multiple pieces for 1 it's going to become an issue.
Even without Hall or getting Lucic Edmonton can still run a full top 6
Maroon-McDavid-Eberle
Pouliot-RNH-Draisaitl
Even subtracting Eberle or RNH from that isn't going to hurt too much. You can get a guy like Vrbata, Stephniak, PAP, or Vanek to replace Eberle in UFA to set up the transistion to Pulju, or make a move for a guy like Filppula from TB to replace RNH.
If it takes RNH+Davidson to get Barrie, then so be it. That's your top 4 locked up for the next 1/2 decade with Klefbom, Larsson, Sekera, and Barrie + a lot of good young defence on the way to replace Davidson, and be on the bottom pairing (Nurse, Reinhart, Oesterle , Simpson, Jones, Bear, Paigin, Neimelainen, Berglund).
