Guess you need to find some small moral victories in such a dumpster fire of another disappointing year.

Next year is your year... surely...

He's simply enjoying his team's usual regular season push to avoid last place in the league.

I love how some of the same fans who are all for these over the top, goal celebrations, are so pissed about a slap shot to an empty net. Like, it's over, there's no need to want to see the rest of the league go after him for something like this. If your response is "there's an unwritten rule", just don't respond.

If Rielly has slapped Greig he’d still be playing.
No one cares lmao, not the players or the fans. Suspension was well worth it, I get it though it was a big win for the Senators. Beating your biggest rival while being the worst team in the division. It was like the Leafs back in the Toskala era, even though the team was dog shit they always brought their A game and did the most to trigger their opponent (Montreal/Ottawa) It's good stuff to build on for next season.

Exactly. If all goes well next year, Ottawa won't be second last in the league come December.

Yeah true, its about that time they finally start winning some games because theres no more pressure (theyre weak mentally) and then all the "watch out for the sens" next year threads will start getting fired up again for third or fourth straight year.

You guys still tune into the playoffs year after year.

We’re all masochists apparently.

Naive. It is hard you have to remember that in Toronto when they click on TSN or SN, it only has 46 stories on how Austin made a spectacular leap over boards during a game or how Willy Neelander was seen on the subway again. It is hard for the general public to understand there are other teams or players for that matter. :sarcasm:
The research team probably look at sites like this and say what is it that fans are actually interested in? What draws the most traffic? What do people really care about?

Thus, 46 stories about the Leafs.

Senators ultimate homer Marc Methot was a fan of it as well lmao
A fan of the crosscheck (that is afterall the original claim that prompted this tangent, 70-80% of players support the crosscheck to the head)?

No, he wasn't. He supported a reaction, just not the way Rielly executed his reaction, just like any rational person might.

It's a spectrum with extreme positions on either end.

On one side you have the socio paths like Kane and Reeves who think the clapper in the EN was a grave injustice which warranted a crosscheck to the head and then some

On the other side you have people who thought there was nothing wrong with how Greig scored, and charges should be pressed on Rielly for assault

The 70-80% likely land in the middle, understanding that Greig was playing the role of pest and antagonizing the leafs, a bit of a twist of the knife if you will, and while a reaction was reasonable, the way Rielly reacted was well beyond acceptable, hence why he's being and deserves a suspension.

the great thing about this all is people have showed you who they are, some were surprising, others not so much.

I thought this thread would crash and burn in 10sec. Realy impressed this far.

I want to belive most fans thought this was fair in a vacum. But not if you look at other suspensions or non suspensions. Now its up to NHL to keep this level from now on. Be consistent.

Maybe Steve will have a better summer than Pierre. One can only hope.

Then again, Pierre's summer won't be so bad. He gets to sit on his fat ass at home and collect a cheque.

Hopefully one day you'll be able to tune in as well.
Yes hopefully. I remember the ECF. Good times. We won more rounds that one post season the Leafs have won since we last qualified. We've sucked for years and we're still ahead in the rounds won in the post season department!
