Reaves is also 37 years old. At one point in time, he was a useful player. Kastelic, up until this point at least.... not so much.

Hey, I guess Reaves is still useful in keeping your boy Mark in line.

I never said he wasn't once useful. That's not the argument. Nice try.

Reaves doesn't play enough to keep anyone in line. The whole sens bench was laughing at Reaves at the end of the game. They all know he's useless.

Keep mark in line? Lmao, he's not some dirty player. He's just a solid 4th line for checker when he's on his game. He can PK too. That's it. He's nothing special. Replaceable.

Reaves is someone you want off the team asap because he couldn't even keep up with the play in the east coast.

Is there a stat for least amount of ice time per minus? I'm sure Reaves has got to be leading the whole NHL. Do you know of anyone else that has him beat?

You don't think Perron, a player with no prior suspensions in over 1000 career games getting 6 in similar circumstances, appealing it and it being upheld on a detailed write-up that is publically available, already set that precedent a few months ago?
Yes and no. Almost exactly the same. Only difference is that Perron’s was direct to the head and to a guy that hadn’t done a single thing.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Rielly gets the same or even more to remind players they can’t respond like that.

I hate dirty stick work. Especially when it’s revenge

The issue here is that it occurred after the play is over. A goal has been scored. The DOPS often uses the hockey play gone wrong defense to lower suspensions. That is not an option here. "he hurt my feelings" is not going to save you.

For those saying no suspension, its not an option- the DOPS cannot send the message that its okay to do this after the play is dead.

If you think this is not suspendable think of this hypothetical. game 81 of the season Leafs are in FLA. Looks like they are heading to a 1st round matchup with each other. Leafs are up by 5 goals late in the third and get a PP, Keefe puts out the A unit, AM34 scores his 70th goal of the season and god forbid celebrates scoring his 70th. Matthew Tkachuk takes exception and cross check AM34 in the head. Maybe he is trying to knock Matthews out for the playoffs, maybe his feelings are hurt. Doesn't matter though as we don't suspend for this right. Are you okay with that? No suspension.

Agree 100% - - there’s nothing wrong with showboating and trying to embarrass the opponent.

Just understand that there’s going to be retaliation and repercussions for doing so.
I have no issues with that. Crosschecking a guy across the head isn't the answer. IMO this is the time to throw the book at Reilly. The NHL needs to make a statement that headshots are not tolerated. 10 games for Reilly and $500,000 for Keefe.

I forgot about that one lol Good example of other teams getting the benefit of the doubt. Only 1 game for that.
Playoff games tend to count as double, slash vs crosscheck to the head (they've really been trying to crack down on hits to the head).

I could see two for that (equivalent of four in the reg season), was draisaitl hurt?

Serious question for the novice hockey fans who don’t see anything wrong with Grieg unloading “a clapper” five feet away from an empty net - - why do you suppose we don’t see more players taking “a clapper” like that on empty net breakaways?

You didn't even answer what's inherently harmful about clapping on an empty net.

Hurt feelings? Trying to logically explain hurt feelings should be funny but go ahead.

+ Leafs tax. 8 or 9. Could push 10.
As I mentioned, anything beyond 7 is clear appeal to the commissioner territory. And at that point you can basically just submit the DOPS video and the commissioners written upholding of it as your case. There's no real coherent argument that the Rielly situation is worse than the Perron one.

My guess is 8 but it should be 10. The simple fact it is a serious reaction to a perfectly legal play means the punishment needs to be harsh.

Next time keep your cool and call his mom fat.
