This will be setting a precedent for all players with no previous suspensions. Interesting to see what the number is, how it’s explained and if it’ll be enforced like this in the future.

I’m ok with whatever they give him.
You don't think Perron, a player with no prior suspensions in over 1000 career games getting 6 in similar circumstances, appealing it and it being upheld on a detailed write-up that is publically available, already set that precedent a few months ago?

Lol for thinking Reaves is anywhere as capable a hockey player as kastelic.

Lmao I'm pretty sure Reaves got multiple threads on the main boards for being such a useless signing.

Nice try though.

It's cute seeing you keep trying to make excuses for Reaves.
Reaves is also 37 years old. At one point in time, he was a useful player. Kastelic, up until this point at least.... not so much.

Hey, I guess Reaves is still useful in keeping your boy Mark in line.

The fact that Perron got 6 for a very similar situation (cross check to the head for retaliation for something that occurred in the game), and the fact that Rielly is one of the least penalized players in the league would make a suspension of more than 6 or 7 look pretty insane.

But is there's one thing Parros has been consistent about, it's being insanely inconsistent, so who knows.
Who knows with Parros, this was 1 game:

He got in his face. But what I’m hearing is that if he pummelled him with fists it would have been fine. Ok.
If you don’t know the difference between shoves and squaring up vs surprising with a cross-check to the head, you can’t be reasoned with. There isn’t a single scenario where a cross-check to the head will ever be justifiable.

You never know with Parros, he just gave two different suspension amounts for hits to the head this week.

Perron had no suspension history
He had been previously fined for a retaliatory cross check whereas Rielly (to my memory and googling) has no prior disciplinary history. I think Perron's was also delivered with more force.

That said, I totally understand if they said "hey 6 games is the established punishment for a retaliatory cross check so it's 6" Maybe a 1 game bonus since it was after a goal instead of after an injury to a teammate (even if that injury wasn't caused by Zub). Anything more than that would clearly be in the realm of a commissioner appeal.

"Your Honor, my client deserves clemency because has never viciously attacked anyone before over his hurt feelings and wounded pride. This is his his first vicious attack."
i don't know if you ever watch court stuff on youtube but the amount of defense lawyers that come forth with stuff like that is really amusing

"well your honor, my client made himself available to the court today" like yeah, his bond was revoked and a bench warrant was put out for his arrest, i would hope he did
