Good point, but:
1. Turgeon actually mattered as a hockey player.
2. Turgeon had a fairly serious injury as a result of the play.
3. Hunter already had a reputation as a borderline dirty player.
4. Turgeon didn’t do something disrespectful (or however you want to phrase it) to instigate. You can argue it a few ways, but Rielly didn’t go after him simply for scoring, but as retaliation for the the way he did it as a nobody in the NHL.
That said, I think he should get 3 games, but this absolutely could be a message-sending suspension like Hunter’s was as well.
