Is there any Leaf fans who really believe Rielly shouldn't get a suspension?
IMO he 100% deserves a suspension, but Grieg also deserves a good talking to by the vets on the Sens as well

So other teams have to score goals certain ways now to not upset the Leads and their fans? Yeah I think you guys have gotten to a weird place and it’s no longer about hockey.

There are things about sports that aren’t about the sport. It’s about psychology, intimidation, behavior modification and bullying.

Someone does something, you react immediately, they either change their behavior or you do it again, just worse until they behave in a manner expected of an nhl player

He deserves a suspension, but he didn’t over react.

I’d rather if all 6 skaters on the ice skated by to give the kid a shot in the head

What strange emotional response attempting to sound tough.

If someone hurts your feelings you can't control yourself and want to assault someone?

What a weird take.

Ridley living with affordable rent in your head. Something we don't see often in 2024 with these rental prices.

I mean, you could talk to your kid about not being a douche and rubbing in a win on an opponent? Might save him some teeth down the line. Feeling morally right won’t save you from feeling a sore jaw if you’re an asshat.

That said, Reilly should’ve dropped the gloves. He’s going to get 5 or more. Punches get you nothing if you give a guy a second to play some face defence.

I am long past dealing with assholes who resort to violence for stupid shit like this. You want to hit me for a minor disrespect? Sure, go ahead, but you will then get a visit from the police and then my solicitor.

With that said, if Rielly just dropped the gloves and had a scrum/fight then I do not think anyone would be talking about this incident. The issue is the response for something small was completely out of line.

This is all well and good if your team isn’t perpetually mediocre. There is no respect given to the leafs as there is nothing for a team to be worried about. I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this but zero players on the leafs dictate anyone’s behavior on the ice.

The only thing Grieg will learn is not to leave his back exposed to a pissbaby coward like Morgan Rielly.

There will be more slappers though. Count on it.

Or try explaining it with logic instead of emotion.

Thinking emotionally doesn't lead to smart decisions.

It leads people to raging like a child and using a stick to smack people in the face.

So I wouldn't really brag about all the emotional thinking you're doing.
LOL. I'm not emotional, I'm amused. I've been watching the NHL for 50+ years, there is nothing new here whatsoever.

I would have preferred if Rielly had responded in a way that didn't get him suspended but whatever, better to do what he did than do nothing. What Grieg did warranted a response, Rielly responded, he did so in a way that will likely get suspended, he will serve his suspension and life will go on. But first, a few thousand more posts because this incident involved a member of the Maple Leafs. And if the roles were reversed, I would bet the house that all the Leaf haters here would be yelling about what a d-bag move it was to take a slapper into the empty net, and how the Leafs are a bunch of unsportsmanlike assholes who deserve what they get.

The fact that we rarely see this type of play when we see so many empty netters shows it is accepted by the players to be one of the unwritten rules of hockey.

The Flames, though, reacted in a more “civilized” way than Reilly.

Guarantee you Giroux pulled him aside and told him that was the perfect decision in that moment for those fans and the 28th ranked team in the NHL, and not to listen to the talking heads on TV or mentally fragile leafs fans.

As a fan, I’m taking that all day long

I want the leafs to show more anger, to be pissed off, to go over the line more often, I want them to give zero inches to other teams.

Bring more of this to my front door, please

I don’t give 2 f***s about what Reilly did, he just needs to be appropriately punished for it.

Blindsiding an opponent to the head is not a scrum. Let me cross check you in the head and see how willing you are to fight afterwards
