I love it all. The slap shot and the retaliation. Hockey needs more of this, ratings would go through the roof.
yup, just look at the engagement on here for a Sunday morning, 142 viewing this thread alone

Steve Dangle said it right on LFR. Grieg did the right thing by his teammates and his fans. The building was mostly leaf fans and in that moment the fan base and the team needed that exclamation mark.

That game meant a hell of a lot more to Ottawa than it did the leafs, and the leafs star players sure played like it.

If Morgan wants to respond, drop the gloves. Don’t get your stick up to a guy’s head.

How sad is that?

To all the Leafs players and fans mad about Greig doing this - easy solution: don’t let Greig have a breakaway with an empty net. Actually beat the team you’re supposed to beat. You guys f***ing suck

I agree the Leafs lost to another slime sucking bottom dweller in the league that should be sold to Quebec City.

It’s a chronic problem for the Leafs.

Are some of you completely out of it? Hammering the puck home on an empty net is a salt in the wounds move. 100% intended to be taken that way.

This is the new world, where people are taught that they can act like assholes and not face any physical consequences.

This is the world where any form of violence is strictly forbidden and all rat shit is a-okay.

Nothing wrong with taking a suspension to kill a rat. Love seeing someone actually pissed off on this team.

I want more of it

so seems like it didnt hit his shoulder and just went up. with clear intent to injure him. Rielly should be suspended. cant have players doing that.

I do think what Greig deserved a reaction just not what Rielly did

Yet the Leafs struggle against that team hmm
yeah..... well let us know when you guys win a series against us. still yet to happen

None of these questions are relevant and you are trying to deflect.

No team would want one of their own to go out and cross check a player in the head for a slap shot into an empty net.

They are all relevant. If you’re a young person, you’ve been taught wrong about how the world works and if you don’t watch the NHL (or sports) you have no idea how disrespectful actions by your opponents come with physical consequences

I wonder how the admins look at a thread like this. @SniperHF @Bear of Bad News.
Is it a case of cool!, high engagement at a time where its usually low, or is it more of a pain in the ass since it probably requires heavy moderation?

Grieg should’ve been expecting a response, but Reilly cross checking him in the head instead of dropping the gloves was a cowardly way to go about it

Slashots are common.

They should be more pissed if their goalie was in net because then it has a chance to hurt someone.

Giroux literally took a Slapshot on a breakaway right infront of the goalie and no one cared.

The Leafs over reacted and cried and now will face punishment.

Maybe next time they won't be so sensitive if they don't want to get suspended.

If you do not understand the nuance, I cannot help you.

You really think grieg would have dropped the gloves? He would have just turtled and then people would just be bitching about rielly going after a defenceless player. Would make no difference

I agree that no fines or suspensions should be given to anyone, I was point out that IF there are any fines Grieg should be one of them because he provoked the incident.
At the end of the day - he used his stick to put the puck in the net. That's it.

You're saying he should get suspended or fined because he scored a goal. It's probably the worst take ever had.
