You do not see it that often but I do not get how that really matters. If this was to happen to the Oilers I would laugh my ass off because at the end of the day it would be the Oilers fault for losing.
Well it was intended to piss off the other guys and it did. It did not justify what Reilly did but shit happened

It's like shooting a shoplifter dead, punishment doesn't fit the crime.
Yeah

Scheifele got 4 playoff games for a similar play. Curious to see if the league would hold a Leaf to the same standard.
That was NOT a 'similar play'. Scheifele was desperately trying to prevent an EN goal in a second round playoff game in which, had he succeeded, his team would still have had a chance to tie. The intent was sound, the execution was not.

This was a play, well after the whistle, in which the intent was to physically harm another player in a situation where said play had no possible bearing on the outcome of the game.

Night and day.

this may sound silly but I wonder if there is a correlation between age and how you feel about this.
I'm 45 and think a response was justified, but also think the head shot was dirty

agree on all points, when the Leafs get eliminated early in the Playoffs again Morgan Reilly is going to get so much respect in the handshake line from people over the age of 45

I would say it is old school hockey and older people would say that it's not only appropriate, but needed to be done or the Leafs would be thought as weak and too soft. I'm 56 and I think that Greig provoked the incident by needlessly slapping a shot from the crease into an empty net, that's taunting and only asking for a reaction. If there are any fines or suspensions Greig should be on that list.

The good thing for the NHL is that they don't play again this season. Because that way they can go easier on Reilly, things have cooled down plenty when these teams meet again in 6 months.

If they had another game, all eyes would be on player safety to get this right because if I was a member of the Sens and saw that Parros is letting Reilly off the hook, I would take matters into my own hands. And not just targeting Reilly, but Matthews as well.

Most likely. Softer people can't handle anything outside of a light body check anymore....

That would not have happened if Tucker, Roberts, T Domi were around...Quinn had Leaf teams that were tough and didn't care about a penalty if it meant a payback of some sort.
100% their reaction to a suspension would have been, good now I can go visit that POS in the hospital lol

Why is it the only time leaf players get angry, they resort to head shots with a stick. Kadri, Matthews and now Reilly.

What ever happened to pushing and shoving in a scrum and see where things go from there.

fair enough, Ive seen players get away with alot worse though.
When? During play, maybe? But after a goal when the scorer is skating to his bench for that fist bump thing that’s don’t now? Reilly needs to suck it up. His club is in a playoff race and he’s their most important D. Selfish act.

How many games? Perron got 6 games with no suspension history. This has to be at least 6 games.

Let’s not exaggerate and get overly dramatic by describing Rielly’s hit as a “cross check to the face.”

If someone received an actual “cross check to the face” there’d be blood everywhere and most likely KTFO’d.

THAT’S a legit “cross check to the face”. Rielly’s hit was nothing more than a shove in the side of the helmet/visor.

Grieg’s EN clapper was a ratshit play that deserved a response. Rielly took it too far. As an unbiased observer I say he deserves to sit for 2.

To all the Leafs players and fans mad about Greig doing this - easy solution: don’t let Greig have a breakaway with an empty net. Actually beat the team you’re supposed to beat. You guys f***ing suck
If we suck what does that make your team :help:

Sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeely next year right?

You guys somehow got worse from last year despite the great youth of your team gettin another year under their belt and ADDING players.
