Definitely a suspension. Well worth it and I wouldn't regret it. If that happened to your team you'd be okay with it too.

If Miller or Joshua did that, I'd call them an idiot. The game is over. Who cares if some kid scores an empty netter with a little more flair than "the code" says you should? Don't like it? Then win the game. It's the damn Senators.

Behind you, look out
I think the bigger issue is the motif behind it. If it was in front of the net, probably a 2 minute penalty, $5k fine.

Will probably get maximum fine under the CBA.

Leafs fans trying to defend this, while if it was the other way around they’d be screaming for a huge suspension. Just an all around pathetic fan base, and it’s no wonder the rest of the hockey world loves to see them fail time and time again.

If this happened the other way around 31 fanbases here would be trying to argue it doesnt deserve a suspension, so I don't know what your point is

There should be a suspension, but every team in the league should and would respond in the same way

All these Leaf fans saying f*** around and find out, the only thing Grieg found out was just how easy it is to make a Leaf do something dumb. Someone is going to attack him for this next game and he will turtle up and take the powerplay with a big shit eating grin on his face like the rat he is.

So far I haven't seen any Leaf fan say a suspension isn't justified. Simultaneously, they are also pleased someone was made to answer for their behaviour. We are in weird generational times where people think it is OK to throw a jab and then whine and play victim when their jab is met with a swift right hook to the jaw. If you jab, be prepared to get hit.

Exactly. Everyone would do the same thing

Dale Hunter got 21 games.

Good point, but:

1. Turgeon actually mattered as a hockey player.
2. Turgeon had a fairly serious injury as a result of the play.
3. Hunter already had a reputation as a borderline dirty player.
4. Turgeon didn’t do something disrespectful (or however you want to phrase it) to instigate. You can argue it a few ways, but Rielly didn’t go after him simply for scoring, but as retaliation for the the way he did it as a nobody in the NHL.

That said, I think he should get 3 games, but this absolutely could be a message-sending suspension like Hunter’s was as well.

I’m going to publicly challenge @Strangle

What’s the max suspension you think it may be, not what you think the suspension will be, but max it could possibly be

No they wouldn’t. No a single team would want this kind of reaction. A face wash and maybe an invitation to dance is all that was required. Anything more is just dumb.

Do you even watch the NHL? How old are you?

These are relevant questions

How many suspensions has Reilly gotten during his career?
