Imagine having to explain to a newcomer that the type of shot you use when you score a goal might hurt some feelings.

And this is supposed to be hockey.

Talk about extremely thin skin, and extremely confusing message to new fans.
Imagine explaining to a newcomer that 95% of icings don't get called when the defenseman (normally) doesn't reach the red line.

Defend what exactly?

Who was hurt? Their feelings? Their pride?

This isn’t protecting anyone other than their poor egos.
It was clearly a 'f*** you' move (I'm fine with it, whatever, that's hockey etc.), but any team would have done something there. And if the Leafs didn't I'm sure you'd be calling them soft.

The alternative narrative here would have been 'lol the Leafs are so soft I can't believe Rielly didn't even do anything or retaliate!!!!!!!'

The narrative wouldn’t exist because it was just an EN goal.

The narrative should be that the Leafs lost another game after having the lead against a team they are far above in the standings.

The fact that someone who types like this can opperate a computer is even more impressive.

Wow, I said something slightly mean that could have insulted someone. I guess I deserve to get cross-checked in the head for that.
Yes, you can use a computer. It is not the flex you think it is. Most of us can.

What did you say that could have insulted someone?
You are entitled to your guesses. I disagree with you though,

I could see it not being suspended. It was a high hit but not the type that had much chance of injury. Mostly just knocked him over. Maybe the ones deciding these things also give Reilly a bit of a break because Grieg egged it on with his hot dogging

I clearly meant if he did the same hotdog slapshot middle finger goal and the Leafs did nothing, everyone here would be calling the Leafs soft with no response when they are disrespected.

I actually hope to see a player go behind the net and do a Michigan on empty net now.lol
Just for the absolute chaos that would cause I'm with you lmao

I get it. They will never win no matter what they do. If he did nothing then everyone would be saying the leafs are soft and let people bully them.

Our feelings hurt? lol way to exaggerate. I agree it’s dirty but any team will respond to that in some way.
Most players would get in a face and chirp and facewash at that point. Regular season game that's over. No need for the stick.

The only place he'll be rolling tonight is on a box-spring bed from most beautiful female Leaf fan to second most beautiful female Leaf fan.
Good player, but f*** me, he'd make most South American footballers blush.

Even if you want to claim the goal was 'hotdogging it', that's a crime without a victim unlike a stick to the head. What harm was caused to anyone by an empty-net slapshot, not like the dude was taking aim at another skater after the final buzzer.
Someone's feefees
