Reactions: h2
Thread title after the suspension could be whole lotta f***en around and finding out, works on multiple levels tells us what happened and a MOD warning at the same time lol

I'm guessing this over the top reaction by Reilly was fueled a bit by the criticism the team took about being gutless earlier in the season.

This might be true but he has 59:55 to react to that criticism in a more appropriate and productive way.

Depending on the nature of the suspension, he may have just ended their season. If the narrative about the Leafs was bad before, it's going to be worse now.

Unless Greig is hurt, he won't get 21. He also is usually a sportsman, it was just a scenario where Greig got under his skin.

Coming off the bench is 10 games. I would imagine the logic will be similar to that. Something in the 5-10 range.

They need to come down hard on him because the next time this happens it might be a strong or tough player doing it and the Greig or Marchand could actually get hurt. They can't set a precedent that the actual tough guys can cross check someone to the head completely separate from any hockey play, after the whistle, with seconds left.

They aren’t going to give him 5 games. Trouba literally chopped a players head and got a 5k fine. If Rielly gets 5, the leafs and NHLPA are appealing that immediately. I don’t even think Rielly gets an in person hearing for this.

It was extremely calculated. You can disagree with he did but this was not a “lost his cool” situation imo. He knew what he was doing and what the ramifications of his actions would be and did it anyways. Not sure that makes it better or worse but Rielly isn’t really the type to suddenly blow a fuse.

Lol, who cares that it was a slapshot. Why are you so upset?
It may be stupid but pro players definitely see it differently than you.
At the professional hockey level Greig was knowingly making a statement by slapping it into the net, and the leafs players got the message he sent, whatever it was.

Again it's not one that should ever be acted on like Rielly did, but had he not acted on it I still know the leafs players would've held onto it a bit. Not that it's a big deal to us as fans but when you're in the game the "insult to injury" moments hit differently.
