People should Google the Dale Hunter hit on Pierre Turgeron that got Hunter 30 games and tell me why Reilly’s cross check to the face in a very similar setting is only worth a game…..

Clowns.

Give me a break ridley went down like he got shot and was up 2 seconds later. Not even close to the Dale Hunter hit

Is the Sens player hurt?
I know if a Leaf had done this, I would think what an idiot and he deserved a whack, however my opinion would change if they were injured

Shades of Dale Hunter of P. Turgeon. Ok maybe not quite the same lol

Absolutely not comparing Hunter to Reilly in general, but I just went and watched that Hunter play and it unfolds identically and the contact after happens in the same spot on the ice.

Reilly won’t get the suspension that Hunter got bc Hunter had a long suspension history at that stage (Reilly doesn’t have a bad history), plus IIRC PT was hurt after the hit by Hunter………albeit one could argue watching both plays that the cross check the head might be more dangerous. The old debate does the league suspension length based on the act or injury (don’t know yet if Grieg is injured after).

IMO Reilly will be suspended but not super long

What would Rielly have done to this??

Was that an empty net goal? Than nothing needed to be done because the embarrassment of that level of celebration is enough in itself.

The hockey gods do not take kindly to hotdogging.

Having said that, the proper revenge is to trash talk them in the moment, then utterly beat them the next time they meet, not show frustration like a thirtysomething hfboards poster who gets lambasted for posting drivel.

You all know who i am talking about.

really is a whole lotta f*** around and find out,
Grieg f***ed around and found out, Rielly f***ed around and will find out soon enough

Honest question, who the f*** cares how hard he shot it into the empty net? Every other sport has taunting on a much higher level. For some reason NHL players are babies that can't handle something so utterly benign.

This would get a response from every sport. They throw baseballs at you for far less in MLB. Turns out sports at the highest levels brings out emotion.

Scheifele got 4 playoff games for a similar play. Curious to see if the league would hold a Leaf to the same standard.

Was not similar at all to what Schiefele did. Schiefele charged and concussed an unsuspecting Habs player

A lot more similar examples.

Aww yes, let's see if former Habs player George Parros concussed by the Leafs in his playing days finally favours the Leafs

Regardless of how that puck was put in the empty net, an attack to the head with a cross check is unwarranted.

Give dumb dumb Reilly 4 games

Dale Hunter got 21 games for doing this to Pierre Turgeon. Riley will probably get away with a fraction of that even though he should get way more.
Unless Greig is hurt, he won't get 21. He also is usually a sportsman, it was just a scenario where Greig got under his skin.

Coming off the bench is 10 games. I would imagine the logic will be similar to that. Something in the 5-10 range.

They need to come down hard on him because the next time this happens it might be a strong or tough player doing it and the Greig or Marchand could actually get hurt. They can't set a precedent that the actual tough guys can cross check someone to the head completely separate from any hockey play, after the whistle, with seconds left.
