I understand the Dale hunter comparison to an extent, but I think there were a couple factors that make them quite different:

1) Bettman was the new guy in town, and was probably extra sensitive to hockey's public image, and he wanted to make a statement. 70 year old bettman probably isn't as bold.

2) Dale Hunter had a well earned perception of being a guy who plays over the edge, and all that history is something reilly does not have.

It will be really interesting to see what they come up with because it does feel like uncharted waters.

Regardless of reilly's intentions, it's just a bad look because he went after an unsuspecting player after the play was already dead, and he hurt him.

RG hot dogged a bit no doubt. Dumb.

But it's very funny how this thread turned into Leaf fans defending the stupid move by Reilly.
Even more funny how the mods let them keep thread open with these ridiculous takes.

Dum play - dumb reaction. 2 games. Move on. No one died. Reilly's not a dirty player.

So less than what a Jets d man got for hitting a guy who had his head down during a play and not after. Your logic doesn’t exist.

I agree with most of that except it will 6 games at minimum.

IDK
Reilly lost his shit. Happens. If he was a repeat offender maybe, or if head only and targeted (my opinion it was not), then maybe. I actually wouldn't be surprised with one game.

Just laughing at Leaf fans and there disillusion. If that was Gudas who went after Matthews there would be 347 pages on my phone by now instead of 124. What also is disgusting is how the HNIC panel has to defend the action cause its where their bread is buttered.

If this was Ottawo at Buffalo the highlight would be an 8 second hit at the end of SN

It would be truly bizarre and great if Ridly Greig causes the Leafs to miss the playoffs.

If they go say 1-5 during the Rielly suspension, and miss by 1-2 points, than Ridly will be responsible for this.

It's very unlikely, but if the Sens have a Hamburglar run and take that last playoff spot it would be something.

Welcome, Riddler, to the annals of NHL villainry!

Interesting in today's Ontario rivalry which is just beginning, it's the Leafs that are soft as butter, great regular season team that chokes in the playoffs, while the Sens have the Darcy Tucker (Greig) and Gary Roberts (Tkachuk). Yeah, yeah, you have Reaves, but as a non-player, he's about as useless as Rob Ray was for the Sens.

I don't blame Rielly for going after the Riddler after hotdogging the empty netter, but the cross check to the head was a brain dead move as there is.

It's cute that Leaf fans can "see" the cross check was to the shoulder, won't be a suspension, etc. I wish I could "see" whatever my biases point towards as well. The NHL doesn't see it your way. Enjoy the 5-6 games without your #1 defenseman, and the already thin D corps behind him.

i got no issue with this. first of all, if you rip a clapper from 3 feet on an empty net you should know someone is gonna be coming to feed you some lumber. skating along the wall not expecting that was as stupid as taking that shot. play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

as far as rielly, good for him and the leafs. they finally showed some nastiness, esp from one of their top players. yea he's gonna get whacked with a sussy but it's about damn time they drew a line, because even the fact that grieg pulled that showed a lack of respect for their willingness to do anything about it. maybe this will be a turning point for them, they had to do something. if they let that go, what the hell would it have taken? they were never going anywhere if they continued to curl into a ball when they were punched in the mouth. this is probably the first real sign there's any hope. maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but at least someone reached a boiling point.
But if was the Leafs and Reilly was the closest, just about the whole hockey world thought the Leafs didn't know the CODE.

You must remove all replies to those fans as well, as those posts would have not existed if the initial posts weren't made.

Yup even then it would be more than 3-5 pages. its already past 3K posts ffs.

25 posts per page.

Already 3K posts.

For it to be about 3-5 pages at max other posters would have had to be about

3 pages x 25 posts per page = 75 posts
5 pages x 25 posts per page = 125 posts

Are you saying other fans only have 125 "initial" posts rest are Leafs fans posts? LOL come on now.....

A 6 games suspension would cost him around 350k?
I think so. It is insane that a guy can take a financial hit like that and it have relatively little impact on his bottom line.

I think that's what he gets. First offense may keep it from more, but it won't make it less like some are hoping (it didn't with Spezza so I doubt it would here)

Go through and tally it up, you'd be surprised.

I don't even have to. So many accounts are posting in this thread that hardly show up on the mains ever.

Anytime its a Leaf thread, accounts that hardly post on the mains come out of the woodwork
You'll have to tally it up for the bet anyways, but will likely back out like the last Leafs poster I had a bet with.

its not a false equivalency in any sense of the definition nor did i ever comment on the crosscheck in question
No, you just did what people often do. Deflect, and in this case, some bs made up "code" that gets broken 10 times a game and seemingly redefined as needed, like the tml talking heads did last night.

Nobody even needs to be talking about what Greig did, or any code. Morgan Reilly chose to use his stick and cheap shot someone and thats the only relevant point here.
