A couple Sens fans were genuinely saying this is CRIMINAL assault with a weapon and he would have been arrested if Grief was injured. If anyone is going to do anything to earn a fine, as far as fans go, it'll be one of your guys for harassing Rielly on social media.
I'm not a Sens fan and don't agree that it was criminal. I also don't think the Sens player broke some "code".

Just such a silly overreaction by Reilly. Like either drop the gloves or give him a face wash. Lol. It’s disrespectful or whatever by Greig but it’s not a dangerous play so not sure why cross check to the face. He could’ve just sucker punched him with glove on and might’ve gotten away without suspension or fewer games

The Leafs have been F'ing around all year and they haven't learn their lesson yet!

In principle a dangerous non-hockey play that occurs after the whistle or away from the puck is subject to assault charges etc. We saw that with McSorley and Brashear or Bertuzzi and Moore.

That said, Grieg isnt injured so this really isnt an example of one of those. IF Rielly significantly injured Grieg then it wouldnt be much different than Bertuzzi, where an unsuspecting player who was being a rat was attacked when they didnt expect it etc. But Grieg isnt hurt so its just a suspendable offense.

Anyone calling for more than a suspension is out to lunch. But this absolutely needs a significant suspension, you cant allow people to target someones neck or head just cause they are caught up in their feelies after losing.
Its a simple question I asked. Not interested in context.

RG hot dogged a bit no doubt. Dumb.

But it's very funny how this thread turned into Leaf fans defending the stupid move by Reilly.
Even more funny how the mods let them keep thread open with these ridiculous takes.

Dum play - dumb reaction. 2 games. Move on. No one died. Reilly's not a dirty player.

But the CODE is supposed to protect the players

I agree with most of that except it will 6 games at minimum.

I will put on a Sens Rule profile pic; if Leafs fans posts removed accounts for 3 to 5 pages; if not true you put on a Leafs Rule profile pic

profile pic will remain active until start of next season
You must remove all replies to those fans as well, as those posts would have not existed if the initial posts weren't made.

Matthews might have dropped his pants at Grieg in retaliation.

Good thing he wasn’t nearby or Grieg would have a memory he couldn’t erase.

The only guy to beak the precious hockey code here was Rielly for not manning up with Greig. Instead, he melted down like lobster butter.

i got no issue with this. first of all, if you rip a clapper from 3 feet on an empty net you should know someone is gonna be coming to feed you some lumber. skating along the wall not expecting that was as stupid as taking that shot. play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

as far as rielly, good for him and the leafs. they finally showed some nastiness, esp from one of their top players. yea he's gonna get whacked with a sussy but it's about damn time they drew a line, because even the fact that grieg pulled that showed a lack of respect for their willingness to do anything about it. maybe this will be a turning point for them, they had to do something. if they let that go, what the hell would it have taken? they were never going anywhere if they continued to curl into a ball when they were punched in the mouth. this is probably the first real sign there's any hope. maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, but at least someone reached a boiling point.

Yep, you didn't get it. It was a hypothetical. IF the Leafs were leading in the last minute of the game, then there would have been no empty net goal by the Senators. It was a comment about how poorly the Leafs have performed versus the Senators. Not that tough to understand.
Ahh ok, just poorly worded then, gotch ya
