Thanks Joe! Is there any possibility that Slamberg and Ville could trade places down the road, as you see it?People hate this stat but Ville is +8 so far leading the team by quite a bit

I have to admit I am not sure about the team's thoughts on Ville. I think they are expecting more from him. Not sure if they are getting that from their perspective.
I'm interested in Simon Lundmark's development, I was thinking that Heinola-Lundmark could be an eventual pairing for the Jets once they move on from De Melo. Skating was noticeable in the preseason as a positive. Eyssimont seems to be doing everything right too, I'd be interested to know if he's looking like the next callup, or Reichel?Heading to the game tomorrow night. Gonna try to take a close look at Heinola, Gawanke, Chisholm, Lambert and Lucius. Any other players folks want me to try to give a report on? Request now or forever hold your peace!
If he's in the lineup, I'm wondering if Tyrel Bauer is able to hold his own and if he has some snarl to his game. I know he does, but is it controlled?Heading to the game tomorrow night. If you don't want to put in more effort than the team, I think a poop emoji might suffice.Still 20 minutes to go here.
The Moose have been good this year, but not tonight.
Honestly one of the most sorry efforts I’ve ever seen on professional hockey tonight. They should be ashamed to lay a turd on home ice like this. Giving me flashbacks to last year’s Jets games where the team mailed it in during warmups.
That is good news.Gotta say any concerns about Lucius' skating should be disappearing quickly.
That is good news.
Yes Lambert is still fighting an unidentified illness. Sounds like the whole team was on the shitter tonight. But your scouting report is top notch and much appreciated @snowkiddin Hope the next game you watch is a much better outcome.Back from the game. My thoughts:
- The Moose are good team this season, but, I don't know if they all had food poisoning, if there's a bug going around, or if they were all fighting off demonic possession because they looked absolutely dreadful tonight. Honestly some of the worst hockey I've ever seen a professional hockey team play; I hear the RCMP is investigating them for all the money they stole from paying fans for the effort they gave in the second period. That said, they actually, somehow, apparently, outshot the Stars, so I'm likely being dramatic, but I don't think they looked good at all, especially in the second period. I suspect the shot clock might have some homerism involved with it. They played literally 90% of the second period in their end and it felt like the first and third periods weren't much better. But like I said, overall they're a good team. Bad games happen. Flush it, and don't do it the next time I come watch.
- It's hard to get a good read on guys when pretty much everyone on the team played poorly, but I'll try sharing some info anyway.
- Gawanke and Chisholm got caught out on the ice before the Stars' second goal and they both did a pretty poor job on that sequence. Neither guy took the man or cleared the front of the net. Texas was skating to the net pretty much unopposed and getting to rebounds faster than the Moose.
- Heinola, I thought, was actually pretty solid in his own zone. He makes smart decisions with the puck and was actually battling hard net-front, especially for a smaller guy. Offensively you can tell what he's trying to do, but I think he's trying to do too much. I think he was getting too cute in the offensive zone instead of playing more direct. The Moose were behind for the majority of the game and instead of using his skill to create chances in the o-zone he was being way too fancy and ultimately not generating much.
- Gawanke is so smart in the offensive zone. He set up a couple of grade A chances with silk passes that the forward just fumbled. His defensive game, especially tonight, still leaves something to be desired. He turned the puck over quite a few times tonight and needs to be harder on pucks. Two of Texas's goals tonight came after a Moose player had a chance to clear but turned it over. Gawanke was responsible for one and Jones the other. Still, I think he's a bit of a forgotten prospect. He definitely has the offensive instincts to be useful in the NHL, and I think his offence could translate to the NHL, as it's predicated on his smarts, but I don't know if his defence will ever be more than adequate at the AHL level so that will likely hold him back from ever being anything at the NHL. He could be a PP specialist, perhaps, and maybe if we're lucky he becomes a Paul Postma-type.
- Holm is a bit of an adventure in the net. He fought the puck the whole time he was out there and had very bad rebound control. He gave up three goals on 11 shots in the first period and didn't start the second. On the bright side, Salami looked pretty solid when he came in.
- Torgersson is an absolute missile on skates. He's built like a tank and is physical. I think the kid is just a freakish athlete that could probably excel at any sport, but he's still very raw. The physical toolset is absolutely there, and I think there's definitely time for us to get his hockey skill up to snuff where he can carve out an energy-type role. I really think he could be a Tanev-type if some of his puck skills and what-have-you can get to NHL level.
- The Moose ran into some penalty trouble, some legitimate, some ticky-tacky. The refs weren't calling anything on Texas, but it's hard to get PPs when you're chasing the game the whole time.
- I honestly didn't notice Reichel which probably isn't a good thing if he's supposed to be one of their top forwards. Malott and Eyssimont also had quiet games but at least Eyssimont was showing some spunk. But to be honest most of the team was completely lifeless the whole time and just let Texas do whatever they wanted without pushing back. Also, Stenlund was also invisible and I don't even think Limoges played. With all those guys no showing and Harkins and Toninato up in the NHL, the Moose were missing some of that veteran offence that the team has needed.
- Lundmark is a smart player. He's almost never out of position and he plays a low-event game. He could 100% be a DeMelo replacement but he was struggling tonight with the forecheck a bit. Once the game slows down for him more he could be a solid defenceman as he knows how to keep the play alive in the offensive zone and how to kill chances against in the defensive zone. He just struggles moving the puck up the ice with a guy on him.
- Chisholm didn't have a great game, especially by his standards, but the prototype of an NHL player is there. He's an effortless skater and he makes a lot of smart plays. He completely undressed a Stars' defender late in the third and got a very good look from the slot but fired it over the net. He has NHL instincts.
- A couple of things that I was impressed with regarding Lucius: one, I thought this dude was just a pure goalscorer but he actually set up a couple of very good chances too. Seems he has some playmaking chops. Right now though he needs someone to get him the puck, he doesn't generate many opportunities himself otherwise, but he knows how to find the soft spot in the D where if someone gets the puck to him he'll have a great scoring opportunity. And like I said he knows how to find people in the offensive zone for good scoring chances, he just struggles getting the puck or carrying the puck right now. I was also impressed with how little space he needs to get off a good shot. The man has an insane release and can get his wrist shot off in a phone booth. He does not need much space to be deadly with the puck.
- I kinda wonder if the Moose brought in Charlie Huddy as a guest D coach today because man, they were pitiful in their own zone. At least a half dozen times today Texas completely hemmed them in for a minute-plus at a time. A couple of these led to goals for Texas. No one could clear the puck and Texas was cycling at will and exhausting the Moose.
- Unfortunately Bauer and Lambert didn't play. Is Lambert still sick? He should be playing if he's not. Hard to believe he wouldn't offer more to the Moose than guys like Jones and Polei. And if they're gonna sit him, I think on the road would be more appropriate. I know most of the Moose crowd aren't super nerds like us here on HFBoards, but he's a pretty highly-regarded prospect in Winnipeg, and I think Jets fans would like to come to games to see him play.
- The Moose need to bring back their old style jerseys already. These Jets colour scheme Moose jerseys just don't look very good in my opinion. They're just boring. The green and brown fits more with the Moose theme anyway, and I've always thought they looked sharp. Bring back the old logo as a secondary logo or something too while you're at it.
- The sound in the arena is atrocious. Both the PA dude and the game day host are way, way too loud. People were plugging their ears it was so bad. Listen, I play loud music in my car and I've been to nightclubs where the music is aggressively loud but even I thought the mics could be turned down quite a bit. I'm not sure if it's that loud at Jets games and you just don't notice it because there's a larger crowd and more background noise, but I shouldn't have to shout at my brother when he's sitting in the seat next to me because we can't hear each other over the game day host telling us what the 50/50 pot is at.
Thank you! And I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they are fighting something right now. They’re a good team but they all looked lethargic tonight. Hoping to make it out to another game before Christmas.Yes Lambert is still fighting an unidentified illness. Sounds like the whole team was on the shitter tonight. I'm not sure if it's that loud at Jets games and you just don't notice it because there's a larger crowd and more background noise, but I shouldn't have to shout at my brother when he's sitting in the seat next to me because we can't hear each other over the game day host telling us what the 50/50 pot is at.
Definitely getting a bit weird. No Lambert again. Did we hire a Finnish coach that I’m not aware of?

Moose earn the split with the Stars after 2-1 OT win:
Alex Limoes opens scoring and ends game in OT:
Mikey Eyssimont showing off his Happy Gilmore "don't touch my puck":
A solid weekend for Oskari Salminen:
Also for those asking about Lambert he didn't start skating after his illness again until Friday so I am not surprised he didn't play since they only had the one practice.
He will likely be back in business next weekend against the Wranglers (is my guess).
Back from the game. My thoughts:
- The Moose are a good team this season, but, I don't know if they all had food poisoning, if there's a bug going around, or if they were all fighting off demonic possession because they looked absolutely dreadful tonight.

Well hell, I Google this thinking it's some exotic Finnish treat like reindeer jerky with juniper berries and it just turns out be frickin' cinnamon buns. Thanks for the update Dave.
I was about to put a fresh tray of Korvapuusti at the arena to lure out those dastardly Finnish coaches
