Some other observations:

A lot like Perfetti Lucious's positioning and anticipation mitigate against his lack of top speed. He's been in good positioning to break plays up and win pucks. He definitely needs more time to learn how to use all his skills at this level but looks better then I was expecting and better in the middle then I thought he would.

Lambert: His speed is translating well to the AHL and his game is less chaotic then it can be. He still needs some refinement in some of his decision making as I saw some forced plays or not taking what was there. Still positive start for him and he'll be given the runway to continue ironing things out.

I don't see either of the above teo being ready anytime soon but they both are trending really well imo.

People hate this stat but Ville is +8 so far leading the team by quite a bit

He's just too good offensively at the AHL level. I've noticed some defensive hiccups but when you toy with teams offensively and play most of the game in the ozone as he does defensive miscues don't matter. I wish our coaching staff at the NHL level would realize this as he is doing exactly what the coaches say they want from the defense at an elite level down there.

Also it's going to be very hard for him to really work on his defense when he is rarely back in his zone. The kid is more then ready and should be up to let him learn at the NHL level. He's getting nothing out of dominating the AHL.

Yeah at this point he should just play. He's going to make mistakes as he adjusts to the speed but he'll get there. Apart from his original 8 game stint he always seems to need a few games to adjust regardless of where he is, this season on the Moose included. He's not going to learn how to make decisions at NHL speed by making decisions in the AHL.

He's been paired with Simon Lundmark this year? How has the 2019 2nd round pick looked? Usually you are hoping for a future NHLer in that draft slot.

I hasn't been all that noticeable in his end in the gamed I've seen which is probably a good thing for a defensive minded guy. Outside of the first period last game he'd managed the puck well has made effective breakouts.

I think he's coming along nicely in a DeMelo type of way. He knows his role and does it effectively.

If only he was 6’7” :sarcasm:

FYI: Brad Lambert didn't play as he was sick as per coach Morrison.

It was a real stinker of a game for the Moose, it happens and move on.

I found Heinola way too casual in his play tonight. He just didn't seem all that engaged to me. I wonder if any of that is the reason he is now off PP1. Hopefully just an off game for him and not a sign of him sulking.

Chisholm and Gawanke had a solid game together but both are capable of better play.

Bauer actually didn't look that bad. Big and physical and he managed the puck decently and made some solid breakouts. Looks a lot like Kovaceviks hair apparent on the Moose.

Torgasson had a pretty quiet game. He wasn't grinding like he can and miffed on a few shot and pass attempts. All about finding consistency with him.

Lucious was ok. He's generally in good positions off the puck and breaks things up pretty well. He shows good control and comfort on the pp. I would say the biggest thing for him is he needs to play with more pace in the ozone. He trys to slow things down a bit too much and teams are able to get on him quickly.

I'm starting to wonder if Ville has fallen out of favor a bit. The Chisholm pairing is getting all the top pairing assignments and matchups. They also look way more dangerous every time they step onto the ice so far today. They also got all of the PP1 time last game.

I wonder if this is a message to Ville or of Chisholm has played his way ahead of him on the depth chart.

4 minutes left for Harkins to score. He has an assist but I'm expecting a goal every game.

My thoughts.

Torgersson played much better. He was mixing it up along the boards, and solid positioning defensively. He also found the soft ice well but was a little off in his aim and with his shot.

Lucious looks good on the PP but is largely invisible at 5 on 5. He still looks to be adapting to the speed of the pro game. As with last game he doesn't play quick enough yet. I still think he needs to be matched with a a quick player who likes to hold onto the puck and push the play.

Chisholm with another solid all around game. Imo he's been the best Moose dmen. He makes the simple yet effective offensive plays, walks the line really well and gets his hard shit through. Defensively he times his step ups well and battled hard along the boards.

Lundmark: A pretty quiet defensive game from him which is what you want to see. I thought he pinched well in the oz and nz to keep plays alive.

Heinola was just ok. He flashed some great offense a couple of times in the ozone bur wasn't as dangerous as he should be with his talent. Defensively his pinches in the nz where a bit miss timed. He also wasn't as tiddy with the puck in his end as a passer like him should be.
