Shake it up at this point who even cares try something different

Skinner McDavid Podkolzin
RNH Draisiatl Hyman

We really could use Arvidsson back, he hasn't been hot this year either, but it feels like the chances generated go down with him out.

Yikes, really starting to look like a repeat of Chia Oilers 2017-18 with management totally getting too cute with adjusting a good team and totally destroyed the chemistry. Good thing we picked up an impressive gm to right the shi— oh wait.

SIGH.
Choosing not to hire Zito when we hired Holland might have been the worst decision this franchise has made in it's history apart from trading Wayne Gretzky.

Zito built a team around Tkachuk and Barkov and got a cup. He might get another this year too. I want to howl in rage every f***ing time I think what that man would do building a team around McDavid and Draisaitl.

Since when is Montemblaut a "plug goalie" jebus the stupid comments. He's a franchise goalie in the making. Spectacular whenever I see him. Give his whole team hope in playing in a defensive structure and just trying to bag a goal.

Would trade several players on this club for Montemblaut. Would drive them to the airport. Please f*** off Connor brown.
And MTL got him off waivers with FLA waiving him. We would not even try that b/c even when the eye test and numbers show bad goaltending, this org gets tunnel vision and lock that position/guy in. End of story. No reason to try to tinker with it. They do that for everything. You can basically 95% retire here if you sign a contract

Hindsight yada yada.

Most of this board was on board with his moves. Sometimes the road to hell really is paved with good intentions.
bs. I was calling the offseason a f***ing joke all summer. This roster is shit. It won't hunt, that was my most common statement. You need a mix of players and some grit and role players and legs and fire in a lineup. I watch this team and it looks like we have 10 Connor Browns this season. Not in a good way.

"Oh but these guys are good in the playoffs" ffs. Good think we're in the Pacific division.

Oof, you're not wrong. The Oilers got all weak-kneed when Holland became available and didn't even think about anyone else. He's left this team a steaming pile with next to no prospects and not even a first round pick this year.

Yeah that was a big mistake.

Oh I’ve been saying that since day 1 of the nonstop complaining

But when he made the signings and was up against the cap with players to re-sign, something had to give

A lot of people shit on Bowman for “not doing anything”, but I imagine his hands are tied to some degree. The Bowman I know from the Hawks would have, rightly or wrongly, made a real move by now (not just an AHL player swap)

From the perspective of Oilers goalies he looks great to me. Well fantastic actually.

To be fair which goalie hasn't looked terrific against this year? Saros? Vladar? Lankinen?

Either way we missed the bus on acquiring a starting goalie. I'm not entirely sure where we go for a solution either.

MTL, OTT both are pretty happy with their goaltending so they're not moving anyone.

Our only real options are with rebuilding teams so that limits us to the likes of Anaheim, Utah, Chicago, San Jose, Nashville, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Columbus.

Of which, I think only CHI, SJS, PHL, and CBJ are willing to trade a goalie right now. But that being said it's far too early for a trade like that to occur. Most of those teams, even as rebuilders, are close to .500 plus absolutely nobody is gonna do us a favour.

With that in mind, the first thing I'd do if I'm the (lack of) braintrust of Bowman/Jackson is I'd fire Schwartz with immediate effect. Bring in whatever goalie coach you can find and maybe even a few of them to do an audit of what's wrong with Skinner. Meanwhile you just gotta run with Pickard until either Skinner figures it out or we find a trade.

Oilers barely create off the rush anymore. It doesn't help that the D zone passing is horrible. 70% of our defence can't make consistent, breakout passes

This group of passengers and pacifists may not make the playoffs let alone do well in them.
