At this point losing in 4 games with 2 more blowouts would be the best for this team. It would force MB to take the decisions he should have taken last summer.

TB lost in four last year . But they did not have Bishop in goal. Stamkos was jusr coming back from a very long injury and they signed solid ufa players to surround their youngsters.

Habs have lots of overpaid crap to get rid of. I really hope they gonna re-sign Petry and ask PK to spend the Summer far, far away from microphones, cameras and parties.

Painful , painful loss after such a great regular season...but the simple truth is that Bergevin, and MT secondarily, bet everything on the notion that tough , grinding , defensive hockey wins playoff games and it doesn't. A team stripped of all creative offensive flair can't win when it gets a goal behind, much less two.

I've been thinking the same thing. I still think they need to sign Petry (perhaps deal other Ds to make cap space), but they need to be much more proactive about giving a fair chance to younger creative players. They could have handled Galchenyuk and Ghetto differently this year, not to mention Eller never seeing an offensive-zone faceoff (why the coach's hate-on for him?). I hope that they keep an open mind next year if either Sherbak or MacCarron outcompete veterans for a spot. It's fine to give DLR a spot, but DLR was never competing with DD for his.

What wins cup is balance. Not defense. You got to have a good balance between offense and defense.

The only way to win with defense only is to have Stevens, Niedermayer and Rafalski as top 3 dmen group with Brodeur in the net.

Well I guess our mgmt thought that Subban, Markov and Petry as top 3 Dmen with Price in net was close enough:badidea:

If Galchenyuk gave us the production we expected by year 3, we might be tied 1-1 in series.

If he scores and sets up plays we might seem like a complete team.

He is not a bust yet but we need more from him. This is a young mans game now.

3 sweeps possible with the Rangers and Caps most likely going to 7 lol. Imagine that, lol. Being the only teams playing in the 2nd round for 3 games while everyone else waits.

We might had seen the very last game of the season at the Bell Centre, tonight.

Very depressing and disturbing after a 110 points season and a stellar performance by Price all season long. Last year, we were two wins away from a SC finals....

Still missing wingers even if Galchenyuk was the #1C we expect already. This team is a few pieces away and needs to also get rid of some of the players.

It will either be a busy off-season and they'll truly compete or it will be close to this team, with a young kid or 2 and hope Price carries them. Then maybe get an impact piece at the deadline.

The trouble is though, the cap was supposed to go way up and it didn't. Now Subban's contract was based on a big hike and kills teh cap situation a bit on this team. They absolutely need to for it before Price and Pacioretty's sweetheart deals run out.

I hope not cause it's not even close.

If you resign Petry its a good enough defense core however numb numbs behind the bench is an issue. The main issue.

Markov being overused was painfully obvious all year. Even when Petry originally came over, therrien didnt use him to take away minutes from markov.

Lets not get into his system

Nothing will improve until mb fixes his biggest mistake.

Montreal cant afford a third straight year youth arent developing. No ones developing under therrien

I think next year Beaulieu has to play wiht Subban. He's ready for big minutes. That solves a lot of issues on the back end and he's cheap. Then you have Markov worry about PP and lower minutes on the bottom pairing.

Beaulieu-Subban
Tinordi-Petry
Markov-Gilbert

Get rid of Emelin somehow to save the money.

I agree but do you think the muppet does this.

NB's ice time was declining yet again after it looked like he was ready for top 4.

Therrien just cant help himself

I don't condone Prust's actions whatsoever, but how does a NHL referee act so unprofessional in the playoffs of a major sport? NHL referees are the most unprofessional of any major sports. How does these 2 meatheads Watson and Lee get to ref an important playoff game?

http://www.tsn.ca/prust-has-choice-words-for-referee-watson-1.274336

The CBC segment in the intermission talked about this incident. They show the moment the ref escorting Prust to the penalty box, Prust sat down and looked the other way. The ref kept yapping at Prust on and on and you see Prust ignoring him.. until Prust said something and the ref immediately gave him the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. It felt like the ref was just waiting for Prust to say something and kinda lure or provoked Prust and the moment Prust opened his mouth, a penalty was called.

I'm not saying that incident has any impact on the game btw. So not an excuse, just think its weird the ref acted like he did.

Markov with Gilbert aint a good idea. We tried it this year and it sucked every time. Pateryn would be a better fit for Markov. He is also cheaper than Gilbert.

This, why do I feel like we took a step back this year. I'm not saying the series is over, it's only game 2. But the frustration, the lack of discipline, the awful PP, and the lack of scoring all seem worse this year than last.

Emelin was great tonight, Idk, I like him and think he brings a lot on the habs tbh.

If he goes in order to fix our issue with the top 6, then okay, but don't get rid of him unless we have to.

If they can get rid of Gilbert and find a good stay at home guy to play with Markov I'm all for it. Maybe Markov-Petry could be good though with Petry's style of play. That way they could just play Tinordi-Pateryn together and let them grow. They're both big bodies that can clear the net and play tough down low.

Gives the opposition a differnet look when they're lining up.

He makes too much for what he brings. 4.1 is a lot of bank for what he does.

Hate the thread subtitle.

Shameful words... and too harsh.

"Bishop and the TBL have the Habs number" should be the subtitle.

In the glory years, Montreal owned many teams... stuff happens.

The management in Tampa is far and away better than the Habs. Yzerman and co have done a good job. They could have easily said "we lost our goalie" and used that as an excuse to do NOTHING in the off season like the Habs but they didn't. I think they'll do well next round.

Agreed, we're meant to developing a group of players for a supposed cup window yet Therrien is so short sighted.

Keep Scherbak off the team until he is gone.

Bishop flat out sucks. He's bad. Just bad.

Yet, much like Anderson and Hammond during the season, we find ways to make him(Them) look good. It's infuriating. Every team drives the net hard, screens, sends 2 players to the net, shoots low, hustles hard and all. What do we do ? We freaking take perimeter shots in the middle of their crests. It's freaking ridiculous.

Like I said, love what he did. But can't stand the leechers.

I like the euro soccer and baseball models. You have money you win. I'm a capitalist. Sue me.

Leeched how? Did the Habs leech Price and Galchenyuk? C'mon!

All I see from Tampa is an organization who has good scouts, good coaching staff and good GM who has done a great job rebuilding that team. Cleared out legendary Tampa players and has now built a team that can compete for years to come. Had no goalie...so he went out and got a good, young goalie for cheap. That is what I expected from MB. He has not been close.
