Nothing spectacular, why can't he make a deal for one of their great prospects, even if it means moving more pieces? we are just stranded in mediocrity and sus drafting at this point, and we won't have Monohan. Confusing.
Probably since they didn't ant to trade them?

Hughes has acquired two first rounders who he then used to flip for a very good young player at the draft. I wouldn't be shocked if he does something similar here.

Looks like Hughes went with the first team who accepted to give up a 1st.
With no condition attached to the first. And no retention. That was the minimum price, and it was met.

He probably tried to get a prospect, but Winnipeg has to hold on to their good prospects for dear life if they want to compete for the next few years. Hugues is expecting them to be bad in 2027...

Yeah, the chances of that conditional pick materializing are slim to none.

Still, 2 firsts for Monahan is impressive asset management.
It is for sure.. but Kent is so picks concerned..
he should have waited, then and gambled other getting a 32 round pick
should have kept him and played him.

I know I am sour, but enough the HABS always getting these trades done on a hope of a miracle

What I like about Winnipeg is Monahan likes Montreal. He's a loyal guy. And he might prefer the city of Montreal to Winnipeg.

I think Hughes took the 1st because he didn't want to risk Monahan getting injured if he waited to try to get more.

This pick will be included in a package for Kakko at the draft
Will it take a 1st to get Kakko?

I mean, it's gonna be pick 32... Not exactly exciting.
What did you expect? We were never getting any top prospects from any teams for Monahan despite whatever anyone here might have believed. Getting another 1st to use as an asset for a big fish is good business.

Not sure why you're convinced the Jets are gonna win the cup either.
