Speculation: Monahan forward most likely dealt first

Everyone who swore up and down this website that Monahan won't get a 1st are probably feverishly going back and editing their posts in this thread.

I'm sure the denial will continue until the deadline however.

eh, Lindholm was considered a 1C until pretty recently, Monahan still has the reclamation project vibes and is nowhere near as good defensively. Don't think it really changes much.

Monahan takes the third C
Ylonen replace KK on the third line.

MTL gets a decent young player that is struggling with KK
Perreault is a great prospect

There will be no retention on Monahan as the contract as it is will looked on as in the retention category .

Monahan has been very solid defensively. And better offensively. He's been excellent in every respect, including leadership.

Easy there. Hughes likely would rather a prospect who's closer in age to the Habs core, anyways, so it might well not be a 1st round pick that Montreal gets. It might even be some prospects drafted later who have progressed well.

Having watched both of their careers, Lindholm is a MUCH better defensive player.
