Speculation: Monahan forward most likely dealt first

MTL : Monahan (50%) + Jesse Ylonen + MTL first pick 2025 (top 10 protected) + Sean Farrell
for
NYR : Perreault + KK

Monahan takes the third C
Ylonen replace KK on the third line.

MTL gets a decent young player that is struggling with KK
Perreault is a great prospect

Now and future? Monahan is only putting up points because he gets a lot of PP time. He won't get that on the Rangers. Ylonen sucks, we've got a similar player to Farrel in Berard, and I'm reasonably certainly you changed the 2nd round pick to a 1st.

I admire Monahans tenacity to come back after injuries he has been trough. But he has never been difference maker for the top 6. And he plays too soft for any lower roles. And the biggest thing is his health.

so argument for Monahan over Lindholm right now is pretty lazy when you compare their careers as a whole.

.Lindholm has 545 pts in 792 GP; Monahan has 514 pts in 730 GP. Both have similar playoff numbers.
Lindholm’s FO% this year is 55.5%; Monahan is at 55.0%. Both kill penalties, although Lindholm does it more often than Monahan. But Monahan’s cap hit ($2.0M) is less than half of Lindholm ($4.850M).

Both are pretty even.

Everyone who swore up and down this website that Monahan won't get a 1st are probably feverishly going back and editing their posts in this thread.

I'm sure the denial will continue until the deadline however.

Time will tell I guess. I'd be surprised if he returned a 1st.
