Kakko isn't good enough defensively to have the offensive numbers he has. He's literally a younger Joel Armia with worse offensive and defensive capabilities. A useful fourth liner but not a key piece in any trade that isn't a swap of potential.
I won't argue that Kakko has had a rough go at things this season and hasn't lived up to his 2nd overall status, but this is still a kid that had a 40 point season last year and has the ability to bounce back in the future and be way more useful than Joel f***ing Armia. No team is throwing away a young RFA for a rental like that. That's fantasy talk.

The idea that the Rangers will just gift the Habs Kakko for a few months of Monahan is laughable and I cannot believe any of you even suggested it.

I don't see a need for Kakko since he doesn't move the needle for us at improved front end.

We have a slew of mid 6s coming up, no need to add another.

I doubt Laf or Kakko are right pieces Habs need. They looking for 2nd line scoring, young with upside. Probably bundle a defenseman with a basket of picks type trade.

Habs set on first line. The third line pieces are generally easier to find.

Both Kakko and AL will command high prices due to their draft status. I can't see Montreal going there.

But yet you think trading Barron for Pinto who is just another mid 6s is a good ideal. WOW.

Exactly we need that winger as Dach will be our 2nd line c.

Lafreniere would definitely fit right up there with the core and get PP1 time.

The game between the Habs and the Bruins are not even half way and it's tied at 3-3. Guess what? Monahan assisted in all the Habs 3 goals.

With 3 assists tonight and the game is not over, Monahan is in line for a season of 50-60 pts...

He has ~ the same % as Val Nichuskin for points on PP.

Just saying...
For certains nhl fans,pp point dont’ counted

I don't see HuGo interested in Lafreniere or Kakko for Monahan or the Rangers necessarily offering either player. Laf and Kakko don't move the needle. Pick or prospect(s).

A 6'2 center on pace for 50 points and is 57 percent in the draw? Oh he wears a Habs jersey? Yeah uhmmmm uhhhhh 3rd round pick.
And also, on top, please send us your cast-away.

Hey who is this

Marc bergevin hangs up the phone

I doubt he gets traded. The Habs are much better with Monahan than without, even if his body is quite damaged. He likely returns as a Hab on a cheap 2/3 yr contract. There's mutual interest on both sides to get a deal done before free agency.
Nothing prevents the 2: exchange him for the best possible value and the Habs sign him this summer for 4 years at 3.5/$4 Million per year. It seems he really enjoys playing for MSL.

Disagree. I think they are what they are, with limited upside. They're middle six guys. Useful, but not what you look for from a trade deadline deal when you're the rebuilding team.
They are in the same mold as Newhook and Dach: young players who haven't reached their apparent potential.

Laffy yes, Kakko no.

Kakko may be just a 40 point player.

Laffy is moving up in points slowly and MAY have a higher ceiling.

We have Beck, Mesar, Farrel, Roy, Kidney, Heinaman and Ylonen in the same category as Kakko and likely one of them in Laffy territory. Beck/Roy may even be top 6 material....hopefully.

Monahan with 18 points in last 22 games. Since be removed from Gallagher line. The bidding might go crazy high close to deadline. He could be best center available. Reminds me of Chiarot case as he has better numbers than Lindholm.

Just because he's French Canadian and Gorton was there when he was picked doesn't mean their interested. It's been a long time since any GM showed a predilection towards French players.

This should be the decision taken but this summer, Habs should ring him back. Right now the best interest is to cash in the way he has been playing.
