Andujar's 2nd half has been something to behold.

For all his warts, hes raked and is only 1 double shy of tying the AL rookie record (which he would probably hold right now had he played the entire season.)

Yup great 2nd half. Torres' 1st half and Andujar's 2nd half reminds me how fortunate we are.

I was at the game to see Wright's final plays and all of that was wonderful.

True to form though, the Mets tried to counter balance that by playing the most boringly unremarkable game possible.

To the point that its still going on in extras.

Nice way for the Mets to finish, both the CG SO in the final game and the solid play over the second half in general. Makes you hope that with good health (which we haven't had in forever) the team could compete in the East. If the rotation could repeat the overall performance from this season, even with a regression from Jake, they'd still be in every game. Rosario showed some improvement, McNeil could be good, Conforto got back to raking, Nimmo showed he could be an asset, etc. Even Bruce showed he wasn't completely washed up once he came back.

The Mets always seem like they're just as close to being pretty good as they are to being pretty bad. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out next year. They definitely have some good pieces. Again, health is key.

I know this thread will be Yankees chatter for at least the next few days (win or lose), but getting to see Wright play that final game was surreal. He's the guy most Mets fan here grew up with. He's the one guy who never left. 17 years with one organization.

Ironically, we got him because someone did leave (Thanks Mike Hampton). Glad I got to witness his prime and how good he really was. He was set for nearly 400 homers and 300 steals with close to a .300 average and borderline elite defense at 3rd.

I'm not sure I'll ever get to see another home grown player like that in a Mets uniform. I hope I'm wrong, but it's going to be hard to be.

Tie breaker games for both the NL central and West tomorrow.

Which are both asininely ridiculously stupid. The losers still go to the playoffs. Teams are playing one game to avoid a one game coin flip game with silly travel involved.

The only team benefiting from any of this is the team that finished #5 in the standings, and had no race the last three weeks of the season. This is where baseball gets beyond stupid.

I'm good. The 2nd wild card makes the stretch run of the regular season that more exciting.

Yeah, win your division.

Easy to say if you're playing with an even deck. The unbalanced schedule and interleague play kind of screws with the integrity of the game.

**** the Milwaukee Brewers and the damn gifts MLB gave them. I thought the whole point of starting the season earlier was to eliminate the need for teams to be playing every day in September. I guess someone forgot to tell the Cubs. The fact that they finished with 40 games in 40 days with no days off is beyond criminal, while the Brewers cruise with days off and an easy final series against a non-rival.

It would not bother me in the slightest to see Yelich tweak something.

Don't get me started on the schedules where the Yankees have to make three west coast trips and the Red Sox two...

Pick your poison - 162 games is enough to tell you who belongs in the playoffs. The games you win in April count just as much as games you win in September.

These guys aren't exactly slumming it on greyhound.

Yeah, win your division.

Six teams in history won 109 games, but yeah, just win your division.

The wildcard was created exactly for teams like the 2018 Yankees who have a great record but got stuck behind the best team. I never understood the notion that it should be a punishment.

With only 1 wildcard, the Yankees wouldn't have to win a play-in game before facing the Red Sox. IIRC the old rules would have prevented them from playing a team in their division as the only wild card.
