Amazing, only the Mets could this happen too where they purposely don’t go after the best manager available in Girardi, watch him go to division rival.
Instead they go after a no experience whatsoever tho beloved for most part by fan base in Beltran and though they have nothing whatsoever to do with a major cheating scandal, the Mets get burned nonetheless.
I mean you couldn’t make this shit up in your wildest imagination. Not that we needed anymore reasons for proof but this team is simply eternally cursed.

If true, it now makes sense. Beltran's niece broke the news that he was stepping down last night. Now she alleges Altuve/Bregman wore buzzing devices under their uniform. And that picture of Josh Reddick appears to show it. And if she knew about that, you know Carlos was knee deep in it....
This could be a new major bombshell in this whole thing.

Bregman and Altuve likely will get lifetime bans if this ends up being confirmed. This adds fuel to my argument it’s fairly likely none of these guys manage again
They won't do shit IMO. The punishment of a couple late draft picks and 5m cash was hefty enough by the commissioner...
If Cora ends up getting a lifetime ban which some think I would expect Altuve and Bregman will as well if upon further investigation this is confirmed. It’s gonna take another 1-2 years til we know everything. The question is can the MLBPA save them

Seems like they will be forced to reopen the investigation if this is legit. Players will have to be named and punished.

MLB wants this to disappear and only did the investigation because The Athletic forced them too. Wasn't MLB aware of some shenanigans going on but ignored it until The Athletic reported it?

There’s now a guy on twitter claiming the Mets knew this all along and had planned to have Beltran implement the same thing here. When this broke out they basically knew immediately he would have to go but they just agreed to let things play out til MLB concluded the investigation. I wouldn’t put anything past anyone

Listening to Brodie’s presser and his timeline and some of the statements there’s some fishy stuff. I gather the theory above is remote but I do think it’s possible the league told the Mets there was much worse stuff on Carlos that though they aren’t planning now to release it it MAY come out later and it might be heavily incriminating

They were only scratching the surface for some of the cheating, not all of it. They probably did not want to dig deep enough for fear of what else they might find.
Bregman, Altuve, etc., these cocky, arrogant pricks should have the book thrown at them. Minimum 80 game suspensions. Minimum. Maybe a year. No pay. You want to cheat to get a WS? I hope it was worth it because you are going to pay. Altuve is turning 30 and May. Bregman, 26. It’ll be a crucial year lost in their careers. But thats what they deserve. Correa would only have 1 year to build value before hitting the market. Oh well. Strip that $26 million Altuve was about to make this year on his new deal. Springer; this is a UFA year for him. Oh well sucks.

There's something about this team and some of its players, especially Altuve, that's rubbed me the wrong way. I can't tell you why. It's not based on any one thing, it's just a feeling inside. Kind of like when you meet someone and it's immediately apparent that it's not a good match.
So while all of this is somewhat surprising in it's scope; it's not that surprising in many ways.
