I love people saying he’s gonna go to a rival now and win multiple titles. Beltran is never going to get another managerial job nor is Hinch or Cora

The Mets have said integrity is tops for them in a manager. So now either have your no-integrity manager apologize and try to to repair his image/integrity, or they can get rid of him and stand by their own integrity. Either one is acceptable in its own way. However, doing nothing comes off as the weakest option of all and that's all they've done.

Edit: Looks like word is he's stepping down, though not confirmed yet.

Beltrán stepping down as Mets manager (reports)

Mets did the right thing IMO. Although the REAL right thing would've been to hire Girardi

There goes Beltran's shot at the HOF

Imagine the Mets kept Beltran and ended up winning the WS? You want all of the winning as pure as possible, no one wants even the smallest doubt. And the media/backpages would constantly remind everyone. It's not fair to the players on the team working their asses off to have even a thought of cheating. It sucks, but Mets made the right move in the end.

Does Beltran step down if he's not named in the report? Remember that he's the only player named in the report because he's no longer a member of the MLBPA.

Hinch is close friends with Brodie. Conspiracy theory - Collins steps to n for a year and Hinch takes over the following year.

Brodie is going to be fired in December when Cohen starts calling shots and just about everyone person I know in the Mets organization says he knows it. The only thing he can do to prevent it is either get to or win a World Series. This is why it’s a possibility Collins is the replacement. Rojas and Muellens are aware of the possibility or likelihood Cohen is going to shake things up

He's not the only member on the team no longer a member of the MLBPA.

There's also McCann and Aoki.

Yes, bringing back two domestic abusers and trading for a player who violated baseball’s steroid policy screams integrity.

Nobody from that team is ever getting a managerial gig or coaching gig in the majors IMO. Cliff Floyd was on a network show last night and said anyone who thinks Hinch gets a manager job again is out to lunch. He will work in a front office somewhere as will Beltran and maybe Cora if he isn’t banned but dugout days are done for all of them

They only said that regarding their Manager search. Likely to compensate for lack of integrity elsewhere.

Interesting tweet from Sherman where he said the Mets and Carlos Met last night finding a way for him to stay but couldn’t agree. That sounds like they might have proposed the idea to him that he sit out the season and return in 2021. I guess Beltran wasn’t for that

I disagree. By the time most of the players on that team are ready to be managers, if they want, nobody will care about this at all. You're talking 10+ years from now.

There’s a slight chance someone on the team now a decade or more down the road might but I don’t expect any of these 3 will manage again

You get the sense too someone on the team might blurt out something about this. Prime candidates for sure would be Thor, Betances/Cano (because they were close with Beltran) or maybe DeGrom. I could easily see someone being shipped out over this

It's not though. This is of none of their own doing.
Agreed, but I think the comment was more in reference to the hilarious bad luck/omen that surrounds them.

Their highly coveted manager literally got fired before managing a game for them. Only the Mets and maybe the Mariners.
