We’ve all said stupid stuff growing up. Calling your friend gay or f** in the 90’s was quite common. It was like calling you lame or an idiot. No one even thought of it like that. That’s a far cry from a guy like John Rocker who was an adult making a statement.

Im not defending bad language, but delving into every past poor word usage is a slippery slope.

Agree 100%

Rosenthal: With market for third basemen heating up,...

Yo we need to ship Andujar's ass ASAP in this market. He has no future here and is the antithesis of a player required for the playoffs.
Teams want to see him play first. I dont think he is dealt until the trade deadline. Unless a team wants him as the 2nd or even 3rd piece in a deal because his value has dropped and his return ability/production is unknown.

Javier Vazquez twice, Sonny Gray, Jeff Weaver, Kevin Brown, Denny Neagle, Jaime Garcia, Lance Lynn and my personal favorite, Carl Pavano

Vasquez, Weaver, Brown, Neagle and Pavano were all during the Tampa faction era that I referred to before. Neagle won a World Series with them in 2000, he wasn’t great against Seattle but ok against the Mets. Brown was a good acquisition that ended poorly.

Shall we go over the wins? Voit, Gregorius, Hicks, Torres, Ibanez, CC, not re-signing Cano, A-Rod Part 1, Teixeira, Miller, Chapman, Sanchez, Granderson, Britton... I could go on and on.

The best part is that all of his wins did far more for the team than the losses he took, sans Ellsbury.

The TDL haul for his relievers a couple years back, Didi, etc., etc.

How do you know that he wasn't responsible for those acquisitions? Do you have reliable insider info?

It has been well documented over the years that George and the Tampa Faction played a big role in the signings the team made. I’ll assume you’re not a yankee fan, but any yankee fan that’s been watching long enough knows this.

I am a Yankee fan but I don't absolve Cashman for every bad move and credit him for every good one. Particularly when much of his early success was built on the backs of Gene Michael and Bob Watson.

Ellsbury/McCann was heavily pushed for by the ownership group.

cashman’s sins have really been prospect hugging more so than getting the wrong players. No GM has a spotless record, especially one who has been at the same position for nearly 2 decades.

I’m actually in favor of bringing in a new voice, but we can do much worse than cash man. Look across town.

I didn’t absolve him of every bad move he’s made. I pointed out that the Tampa faction had a lot to do with some of those bad moves years ago.

I don’t recall absolving him of Ellsbury and Happ’s deals. I haven’t absolved him of bringing back CC last year as a starter when I said he should have been a long-man or retired.

I’m not a fan of giving Gardner $10 million and a team option for the year after when you have Tauchman, Maybin and others who could fill that spot for less.

  • It appears increasingly likely that reliever Dellin Betances’ time with the Yankees is up. There’s no “active dialogue” between the Yankees and the free-agent righty’s camp, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. The 31-year-old Betances was excellent as a Yankee until injuries derailed him in 2019, when he faced a total of two batters. It seems the Yankees have turned their attention to another established reliever, Brewers lefty Josh Hader, whom they’re reportedly pursuing on the trade market. But Sherman throws a bit of cold water on that, writing that the two teams “did not seem to have substantial traction” in talks as the Winter Meetings wrapped up.

Fair, hopefully the Cole move puts us over the top. I still worry about this offense against quality pitching though.

I am just happy Houston didn’t win this year and that we got our Ace. Now lets go win one....or three....while we have this young core
agreed. I think I hate them more than the Red Sox at the moment.

Never thought I'd see a day where I'd hate a team more than Boston.

Riiiight. You say this only because the Yanks and Boston have each alternated outclassing each other for the last two years. Just wait until they're playing meaningful games in Aug/Sept again... :)

Red Sox stole signs by using Apple Watches and were fined by the MLB. Not nearly as elaborate as the Astros, but the Red Sox are still cheating scum.

And it still infuriates me how everyone seemed to laugh off Big Papi's "protein shakes," as if he accidentally ingested a banned substance.
