Thank God for wild pitches cause hits with runners in scoring position is no longer a thing.

Familia not starting September like he pitched in August. Losing this and having to get to DC quickly for the 1pm tomorrow doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies

Yep. They had to have this one because I'm not expecting much with the quick turnaround against a really good Nats team.

I'm in the minority but I'm not blaming tonight on Mickey though he made some questionable decisions. I'm team #nobunt through and through but even with the bunt, they had 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and their best hitters up and the end result was fielders choice, walk, and strikeout. And in the bottom of the inning, I can't kill him for keeping Familia in when the other option is Diaz. The only one I had a real problem with was letting Zamora face Harper. I probably would have used Wilson for that 1 batter even though he pitched the last two days. Using Zamora his first day back in a pretty high leverage spot there isn't something I would have done.

70-79 wins is the only reality for the Mets.

Not sure if your kidding, being factious or serious. With 26 games left and Mets being 69-67, I'd give it a 75% chance Mets will finish over .500

Problem is, we need to get to 88 wins most likely to even sniff the 2nd WC spot and that likely aint happening. Only thing we can hope for is if the teams in front of us beat the shit out of each other and force that 88 win number down to something in the 85-86 range which would mean we'd need to go 16-10 or so which is much more doable than going 18-8.

The reality of that unfortunate 6 game losing streak should be hitting home with all Met fans. That losing streak took any and all wiggle room we might have had. It sucks but that's the reality of the situation. I still think they'll finish well over 80 wins tho if you were being serious.

Half kidding, half serious.

Yeaaaah... I took a deep breath and looked into his recent* Twitter history: hate to tell ya, but ADA is a Phils (and Sixers and Eagles and...) fan just tweaking fans of the Mets.

(Not surprising, given he’s from south Jersey.)

*BTW, going back into May and found nary a one of the posts that made him so controversial when we first acquired him.

Nimmo should be in there everyday at this point. No reason to see Lagares except for a really tough lefty and to spell him for a game.

Can alternate Panik and Frazier, but Panik has been the better player, in spite of Frazier's explosion in Philly.

My real concern is when Cano comes back. What are they planning on doing? Panik has been hitting .280 since joining. Cano won't be able to go everyday, but wouldn't it be better to just use him off the bench for now and give him some more time to heal?

be shocked if nimmo's health allows him to play every day but you still might not see lagares. days nimmo sits you probably get an OF of davis, conforto, mcneil...

if nimmo and cano are back than you probably have panik and frazier on the bench with mcneil at 3b

Baseball's funny. You'd expect the team to maybe win last night and probably look lethargic today considering the quick turnaround and pretty much the exact opposite happens.

SNY can reference Joe Ross' hot August, but his game log can tell you why he had that kind of month. Last 4 starts: Giants, Pirates, Reds, and Cubs. He did have a good game vs Arizona to start. I'll give him that. Cubs was a 4+ inning 2 runs 6 hits and 4 walks game. He faced weak competition.

Mets lit him up like any good/above average team should.

Hoping a big lead and hopefully expanding it will allow them to get their starters off the field. Get them rest after the last 20 hours.

Not only the starters but it'll let them rest up the bullpen too. Granted, it's not a huge deal at this point since they have the off day Thursday but they'll have a full arsenal of guys ready to go for Tuesday and Wednesday now. Hold this lead until the 7th or 8th and they can let Lockett and Bashlor finish it off.

Great bounceback by Syndergaard. He knew the team needed him after last night and he delivered.

Today was a must with the two best in baseball going at it tomorrow. Hopefully Washington is still holding him back and maybe get him out after 5 or 6.
