Braves make two great defensive plays in the 9th and beat the Silly's. We are now tied with them 2.5 out of the WC with the Cubbies yet to play vs Padres. Brewers also won and are just 1 game out.

Man oh man....we hanging in there. Proud of this team of ours. Despite some nasty gut punch losses that alot of teams wouldn't recover from, we keep fighting and fighting. Really love that about us...this resiliency.

It bodes well not just for the rest of this year but for next season as well.

Fangraphs has us up to 16.7%...Phillies are at 4.7% but that doesn't include their loss tonight so they'll be dropping.....Brewers are at 23.9% and the Cubs are down to 40.2 pending tonight's outcome.

We got a shot...this team is like Lazarus of Bethany...we just won't die....luving it.

So then you wouldn't want Yelich either. He posted a .194/.383/.321 slash line with a .624 OPS and 113 wRC+ in the playoffs and it's not silly at all to post those stats given the extremely limited sample size....

I wouldnt care if he was a friggin woman. But please, please pitch like you have never pitched before. Be a man, be that "winner" that you were supposed to be.

This is yet another chance he has to prove himself and finally help this team where it wants to go. Pitch a gem. Previously it seems that every time he has pitched we won prior and was the polar opposite of what an "ace" does, stopping losing streaks. He "stops" winning streaks and pushes.
 
Why am I smelling a one game playoff in order to play the WC game? Could come down to it. So many teams involved here, just kind of makes sense,

I believe that on yesterday's Michael Kay show, they discussed that there is a legit chance at a 5 team tie for the last spot and the MLB has nothing prepared for that scenario in their rules. Would be unprecedented, but they could have to do a 5 team tournament to decide it. You'd be looking at the schedule set for the postseason being pushed back in order to make sure they have all the teams involved get their games in.

Either way, I could see that happening where there is a game 163 to determine the 2nd WC and then the WC game itself. Could even be the Mets and Brewers, but the Brewers have the same kind of schedule the Mets have moving forward. Bottom feeders and a series vs St. Louis left. Padres and Reds are on there, two teams that are sub .500, but they are playing hard down the stretch.

Holding out hope, but they can probably only lose 5 games the rest of the way to get in. Lots of winning will need to be done.
 
McNeil sitting today and Cano batting 3rd...ugh. And Nimmo sits for Lagares even though he hits lefties better.

Did anyone else find that pull of Ray odd? I mean he’s one out away from getting out of that inning with 28 pitches and Matz is coming up. Why don’t you let him face Matz in that spot? If he gets him maybe you get 6 innings out of him.

Matz is a better hitter than Lagares...

Expanded rosters in September means every team has like two dozen relief pitchers to work with.

Yeah, double uggh. I get the "thinking" in having the best fielders in for a struggling pitcher, but even the best fielders cannot keep the ball in the park. He hasnt even been the ground ball pitcher he is supposed to be.
Lagares has been hitting better lately, so I guess I am okay with that......what I am NOT okay with is that slugging combo of Nido/Lagares, if we get 2 hits from them I would be ecstatic.

With McNeil starting to heat up again, I would have preferred to give Conforto another game off. Now watch Michael go off and hit 2 homers.......

All in all, would prefer a more offensive team to outslug Arizona in a game where Stroman pitches. Dont trust him to keep them at bay and may be too late half way through the game with an inferior lineup.

Do like J.D. AND a suddenly hot Toddfather in at same time though. Get the brooms out please, and pitch a good game Stro.

McNeil and Nimmo must be exhausted from going 5/7 with four RBIs last night.

Yeah, thats what I mean. Makes no sense. Stay with your hot hitters. Saving them for dramatic pressure situations? Naah, would rather spank them during the game than relying on clutch. Maybe we have too much talent and don't know who should sit.
Surprising not to see Haggerty starting his 1st game instead of Cano and Guillorme replacing a hot Rosario. Now......THAT was funny.

Lets save our best players for the Dodgers, we don't need this game.
 
All I want for my birthday is 3 things.

1. A Mets victory
2. The Cubs, Brewers and Phillies losing.
3. Signing DeAngelo and Lemieux
4. Ummmm, well u know.

Oh, okay......maybe that is 7.
