Well, three. Also, five pennants, 11 division titles and five wild card births. I'm not making any generalizations about fans, but let's not pretend that the Yankees are not a very successful franchise.
Meanwhile, for us Mets fans, Jason Bay.

The last New York team to consistenly write stories every night would probably be the 2012 Yankees who clinched the division and won the first round hitting walkoff after walkoff.

They had a crazy comeback in the 9th inning of game 1 of ALCS and then needed a sacrifice to win that game in extra innings. They didn't get it and went onto lose. That was the night the magic ran out for that team and they got swept.

Even the 2014 Rangers, at their peak, were just clowning teams. It wasn't exactly a narrative. Sure, there's the thing with MSL's mom which absolutely created a magic moment in game 6, but if Fleury doesn't post a .972 save percentage the first 4 games, that series is over the night she died.

If anything, the Kings got those crazy games to beat us.
I see your 2012 Yanks and raise you the 2015 Mets.

I am spent, these last 2 games have taken a lot out of me. Way too much emotion coming from a man that has been emotionless.....just ask my GF.
Have to get some sleep now, early game tom. Gary and Ron gave deGrom a nickname that i cant recall right now.....about him being even better during the day games.

Yeah I heard some crazy stat about DeGrom during day games the other week. Something like him having the best or 2nd best daytime ERA ever? Something like that.

Jacob DayGrom.

Speaking of nicknames, DeGrom one of 3 local players to decline using a nickname on his jersey for the upcoming players weekend or whatever it's called. Guess the other two (both Yanks).

Gardner and ???

They said Gardner on WFAN and I thought the other player was Judge for some reason but he's on the list as having one so I dunno maybe it's just Gardner. I don't know Yankees roster well enough to who might be missing.
They're all a bunch of goofballs.

The only one that stands out to me here is Gardner.

I didn't want to bring up the Braves but since we are here, this series coming up could get things really interesting. Getting 2 of 3 from that team could be the beginning of something.

That stadium isn't too kind to the Mets. Something about being down there really screws with this team. Hoping this momentum can counter that.

Noah raised the hammer tonight, deGrom needs to drop the hammer on the Nats tomorrow. You really wonder what that team is thinking. They revamped their bullpen and they still can't get Mets hitters out. It's not even the same guys!

I dunno how it's going to play out but if Mets were ever going to take 2 of 3 from the Braves at their place, this might be as good a time as any...ya think? If we want to seriously think about making a run at them, that's what we have to do. I can't believe we are actually having this conversation considering we were 14 games behind them only a month ago.

As far as the Nationals, you know how some teams have your number? It happens in all sports. Well I kind of think we are like kryptonite for that team. I still recall 2015 and '16 which was the last time we were any good pretty vividly and I recall us kicking their asses when it really counted during our runs both of those years to secure a playoff spot. And quite a few of these wins vs the Nats have come in dramatic fashion like the past two nights have been . Heck I still remember that stiff of ours Kirk f***ing Neiwenheis like it was yesterday hitting a key homer late in a game to give us a win vs them.

And here it is we are doing it again. So yeah I agree with you. Sure we've done what we set out to accomplish before the series which was win 2 of 3. Well let's get greedy now behind deGrom and sweep the f***ers, move ahead of them in the standings and have them thinking "ruh roh not again with these them damn Mets"...lol

Really think this WC race is about to get wild. The other team that bought at the deadline in the NL that people laughed at was the Reds. They are hot. Peeping the schedule, they get the Nats starting Monday, which could be a team that is shell shocked. End of the month, a road trip to Miami and Pittsburgh. 4.5 out now. I think they're going to be right there around September 1.

Good call. A team similar to the Mets. You know, up and coming. Believing in themselves and striving for somewhat uncharted territory. I like the Reds, more specifically their fans. Great fans, at one time they had quite the team year in and year out. Their fans deserve a little success, much like we do. The only thing I don't like is that lasting memory of Tom Seaver in a Reds uni, and him pitching a no-hitter there. Ex-Mets pitchers have a propensity of doing such. Cone and Gooden anyone? Am i missing someone else?

A sweep today is so obvious and staring us right in the face. EVERYTHING pointing the Mets way.

1. Winning streak, hot in all aspects.
2. Jacob deGrom.......need I say more?
3. Citifield becoming quite the "home field advantage".
4. Positive emotion.
5. Nationals demoralizing defeats on their minds.
6. Their bullpen. Even if they have the lead, will they be able to hold it? Will Dolittle be able to lock it down, or repeat his disasters. The Mets OWN him.
7. Mets. A.K.A. Comeback kids
8. The Bash Brothers part deux. Who will do damage today?

With all that jinxing going on 1-8, it is what we are seeing.
But.....a big but......you KNOW baseball doesn't work that way, that easily, that simple.

Would you bet your house on the Mets? I wouldn't, then again I AM a Mets fan. I know better.

That last part at the bottom, ready feel like Yankee fans haven't seen the real Stanton. This guy terrorized the NL East, but it's something every season. It took him FOREVER to recover from the hamate bone a few years back. He just might be one of those guys that heals slowly and it only gets worse as he gets older.

Have to pray he goes off in his opt out year and he pulls the trigger. That contract is an albatross at this point, but the healthy player is worth it.

Hard for me to see him opting out even if he has a huge year. He'll be 30-31 with 7 years at close to $30M per, plus either another $25M or a $10M buyout. Given how things played out for Harper and Machado, it's hard for me to see a guy who is substantially older and with a history of injuries getting a deal worth more than he'd have with NYY.

LA wouldn't need him, the Red Sox wouldn't need him, the Nats won't need him, Philly could use him but seems unlikely to spend after Harper. Maybe the Cubs or Giants? Seems like the big-spending teams either don't need him or wouldn't want to pay for him. Especially with everyone being so averse to the luxury tax nowadays. I think the Yankees are stuck with him unless they trade him and absorb money.

Just a bad all around decision to go after him when there wasn't really a need for more power. At least they didn't give up much in terms of assets

If the Yankees didn't get shit lucky with Urshela, Voit, and now Tauchman turning into difference makers over night, and the DJ LaMahieu signing turning out better than one can ever imagine, that trade and contract would be brought up on a daily basis.

Going after Stanton instead of Yelich is one of the bigger mistakes that Cashman has made.

Yeah, that's tough, though. The return for Yelich was far greater than the return for Stanton, especially considering Starlin Castro is now somehow like one of the worst regular players in baseball this year. Devers and Guzman are still pretty solid prospects, but that's it. It was basically like, "We can buy Stanton or trade a lot more for Yelich."
