Well somehow Familia only gives up one run there. I was thinking Braves were at least getting two if not more.

So we have a chance here vs Melonson who is hardly a shutdown closer. He's decent but he's gettable.

Let's see if we can pull off some late magic.

He struck out against that awful pitcher newcomb. He's awful. I'll take Conforto there 10/10 over Altherr. Just didn't have it tonight.

Might get some reinforcements tomorrow if McNeil is back. Nimmo is close too. The calvary is coming.

Oh well...we had our chances as Braves for most part handed us the game but we spit the bit. Frustrating? yes but that's baseball. Felt like a playoff game.

This is exactly what we have been searching for all season. A guy who can go out there and shut it down with fantastic stuff and boy has Paxton’s stuff been good tonight. Great even. His location with his 96+ fastball has been incredible. Locating up and in on Lefties but overall around the dish making it tough to get the bat head through the zone to the ball. His breaking stuff has been wow tonight, to both lefties and righties.

This has been an elite performance after how awful this group was in Oakland. And he did it against the best of the NL in a playoff like atmosphere. He has the stuff. He just attacked tonight. I said it earlier, the Yankees SPs dont go out and attack, blitz the hitter.

Fantastic pitching performance. One of the best all year of any starter. Dealing.

Also, great to see the Offense finally come alive again.

I've got both Scherzer and deGrom above him. Scherzer has been better than deGrom but deGrom has a sizeable advantage in innings thrown.

Not sure why they don’t walk walk Hamilton there. Made no sense to me at all

the problem is that there was only 1 out...after walking a terrible hitter in flowers and getting smoked by a terrible hitter in hechavarria, he still had a great opportunity to get out of it against 3 awful hitters in ortega, hamilton and the pitcher's spot....

if you walk hamilton in that spot to load the bases with 1 out...not only do you risk him walking in a run with how bad is control was tonight. but the best case scenario is face ocuna with the bases loaded and 2 outs. i'd pick facing hamilton with 2nd and 3rd over ocuna with bases loaded any day.

I really doubt Philly with their pitching is a serious threat to the Mets. It’s gonna be Nats/Cubs or Cards/Mets for the 2 wildcards and obviously one of those other central teams wins the division. I expect Milwaukee and Philly might hang around in the background but if either won more than 83-85 games I would be surprised. Their pitching is just awful

Yeah well they've been hitting well lately just had a bunch of core guys do nothing tonight. Just sucks they had to use so many bullpen innings and didnt get a win for it. Though Atlanta looked like they were trying to hand the mets the game in extra innings they just couldn't get that winning run.

It's sad how many of these no run support games deGrom has had.

Granted, it could have just been a bad game (Ryu was due for one eventually), but AL lineups (even non-elite ones) are definitely a different story than most of the NL ones.
