i dont think they have a shot. i didnt think so when they were on that nice little run before the west coast trip, and i dont think so today. they are too dependant on home runs, and have been very very very lucky with their pitching.
Tanaka is done, and theres just not enough arms to get them through the playoffs.

i just dont see it yet. good year, for sure..but they arent there yet. just my opinion.

The thing is that the AL seems weak this year besides the Astros. If the Yankees got in, who knows what can happen.

That being said, as a Yankees fan, this is probably not their year. However, the future is really bright for the next 8-10 years or so.

I don't think they have the pitching or production from 1B to get it done, but just find a way into the playoffs and anything can happen.

It does seem that way, but you really can't look that far down the road. A season or two, tops. Too many things can happen to project eight years down the road.

Not to directly compare the Mets and Yankees but the Mets were in the World Series with a bunch of stud arms and a deep farm. Then every starts getting hurt, some guys maybe don't develop as much as you hope, and you just have a ****** season. Again, not saying the situations are identical by any means but had you said a few years back that the Mets would have one of the worst rotations in baseball and that they'd be out of it before July I think you'd be met with laughter from a lot of folks.

A lot can change in a short period of time.

Unreal.

That is a crushing blow. We wont see him until the end of next year.

Time to set sights on Moustakas, Frazier, Kendrick for 3B for this year. Maybe a package of Moustakas and Hosmer to the Yanks.

Not sure but I don't think he'd be out as long as a pitcher would.

This is from an MLB article when Miguel Sano underwent TJS:

Sano, ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect by MLB.com, is likely to miss the rest of the season. The timetable for position players having Tommy John surgery is generally eight months rather than the typical 12-month recovery for pitchers.

Tyler Saladino, property of the White Sox, underwent TJS in August of 2014. He made it back in time for the start of the AAA opener the following season (made it back in time for ST too).

Also, Torres' TJS is to his non throwing arm. Still a significant injury, but would be different if it were to his throwing arm.

We will see. I'd like to know the severity of the year if possible as well. Sucks for this year, but not a long term concern and barring something unforeseen, I doubt he misses a lot of time next year and likely will be ready for ST. Yanks PR tweet says "Torres is expected to be recovered in time for 2018 spring training."

Very glad to hear that.

Dustin Fowler should have been brought up with the Hicks injury over Mason Williams, damn the 40 man roster.. Fowler is shining in AAA

Agreed. The window can fall apart as soon as a guy like Severino needs surgery.

I miss Andrew Miller a lot. Still very skeptical of that trade and it's clearly hurt this team the past 6 games...

Good thing they didn't make the trade for 6 games.

Frazier is doing very well at AAA and Sheffield has turned it around and has posted very strong numbers while being the youngest starter in the Eastern League

BTW, Miller got roughed up a few times last week.

Miller is fantastic but they got a prospect that will likely be ready next season to step in as a full time starting outfielder. I thought it was a fantastic trade.

Frazier is posting better ISO numbers at AAA than either Sanchez or Judge did while being younger than both were last season.

I'm not sure what exactly there is to be skeptical about up to this point. If they had room for him in the OF, he'd be playing with the Yankees right now.
