Mets had an opportunity to get within striking distance and **** the bed. Each passing game they get closer to cementing themselves as sellers.

its funny the Yankees think Tanaka will figure it out... You don't just figure it out 4 months into the season. You are what you are., and what he is, is trash.

Tanaka has had 3 brilliant prior seasons, he is not trash. I wonder if there's some sort of injury he's pitching through?

So atleast the Mets can sell now . Was inevitable . Get a CF.

Reyes , Walker , granderson, bruce , Duda , youre on the list !

Doubt they can move Harvey fir anything descent

May aswell keep cabrera for IF depth

Jose Reyes is a bottom five worst MLB starter. Where are these good players? TJ Rivera is also now starting. Where are these good players?

In theory I agree w him . They have IF depth . Don't worry Rosario will be the starting SS by years end

Is smith at 1b close ?

I think our infield depth is okay, but Collins misuses these players. Reyes sucks, one of the worst players in the majors. Should be in the minors. Cabrera is a back up level player on a good team, Rivera also a back up level player on a good team. We have like three starters on the infield, Duda, Walker and Flores. We might actually have good infield depth if our infield was Flores-Rosario-Walker-Duda on the IF with Cabrera and Rivera as the back up IF's. But without Rosario on the IF, the defense is very bad. Rosario would be our best defender right away. Smith is close, but I don't see the big need for him. He's not that good. He's Loney when Loney wasn't bad. I'd rather keep Duda, and trade Smith.

At the trade deadline, I think we could get something for Bruce, Walker and Cabrera. No one's going to want Reyes or Granderson. I also would trade Duda, but try to re-sign him in the offseason. Try to go into next season with an infield of Flores-Rosario-Rivera/Cecchini-Duda. If Wright comes back, like they are saying he might towards the end of this season, he can play 3B, and move Flores to 2B, Rivera and Cecchini to back up IF positions.

Chris Flexen has been really good in his four AA appearances. A WHIP of .77 and no walks in over 20 innings. He's one of the next wave of arms that will help the Mets.

Nice to see deGrom hit the homer. The season is clearly not going to end up anywhere good, so these are the kinds of things to remember I guess.

Molina was moved up to AA yesterday, Szapucki is back, and had a nice outing yesterday.

Are the Yankees coming down to Earth or is this just a slump? I know our pitching has been comically bad lately though.

A little bit of both.

Coming back to Earth in the sense that we're bad now? No, I don't think we're bad. I think we contend right through September.

But, we were the best team in baseball for a stretch there. I don't think we're that, either.

I don't think this team is bad by any means. Pitching has just been very underwhelming lately.

A bit of both. But if you look at it, the Yankees went 1-6 on the road trip and easily could have gone 5-2. They had leads in almost every game and blew those leads instantaneously. They just need to get back from the west coast and hit the reset button.

The Yankees lost three games on be road trip because of a depleted bullpen. They still hit enough and their starters for the most part gave them a chance to win. They win those 3 games and they are up 4 games on the Red Sox.

I am not worried.

arm injuries. this wasnt going to be there year anyway...i love what im seeing, but this team is probably 2 years ahead of schedule right now.

the big thing is to not panic and trade assets for a quick fix. the long view is real important here. with some smart moves this team can be a legit world series FAVORITE for the next decade plus.

There's no doubt about it. I don't see Cashman panicking at all. They will have to trim back some of the prospect depth but the top talents will not be moved. Pitchers, outfielders, infielders, they're all coming.

If you think you have a chance to win the WS, you should still try to go for it. I'm not suggesting making big, panic-moves or anything like that, bit you tweak things to give yourself a shot. Guys get injured, regress, become disgruntled, "sure fire" prospects flame out, etc. There's never any certainty no matter how pretty you're sitting at a given time.

i dont think they have a shot. i didnt think so when they were on that nice little run before the west coast trip, and i dont think so today. they are too dependant on home runs, and have been very very very lucky with their pitching.
Tanaka is done, and theres just not enough arms to get them through the playoffs.

i just dont see it yet. good year, for sure..but they arent there yet. just my opinion.
