The two scariest hitters in the past generation or more of players that I recall were Bonds towards the end of his career and Pujols in the early-2000s. They hit for great average, got on base a ton, and hit for immense power. Even then, Pujols only had a four-year stretch of 40-plus homers and the same for Bonds (and they both did it in a bit of a different era, with other factors at play).

I would guess Judge settles in at a consistent 35-plus home run level with a number of 40-plus seasons in the mix. Consistently hitting 40-50 home runs would make him one of the all-time greatest players to play the game, and while that's possible, I think it's a little early to make that projection for him.

It's also worth mentioning that offense has been trending up, particularly this year and specifically with homers, from what I've read. Something like 500 more home runs projected in this season than in any previous season, which is absolutely insane. We all know there's an ebb and flow between offense and pitching in baseball and it remains to be seen how long this power surge lasts. Baseball always seems to correct itself when one aspect takes over completely.

This.

"buyers"..

riiiiiiiiiight, can't even beat the awful Twins, Angels or Athletics.

Frazier needs to play everyday.

Maybe one day Wheeler will learn to command his pitches and be something other than mediocre.

I think his conditioning post surgery sucked and he's not ready to pitch a 120 inning plus season. He has been good lately the first 2-3 innings then terrible. At this point I might just shut him down or send him to the pen. If you're the Mets you want to try and get as close to 90 plus losses at this point if possible so you may as well put someone like Knapp or Flexen into the rotation after the deadline

Ever since the 2nd week of June, the Yankees have mostly been bad, but they've also had bad luck in a lot of games.

Regardless, this was never supposed to be their year anyway, but it just sucks how it ended up like this (combination of injuries and the bullpen being bad during that awful stretch). No way would I be buyers. Either sell off pieces like Gardner, Headley, Ells (if possible), Sabathia, etc. Or, stay pat.

The Yankees are probably going to the playoffs as long as Texas doesn't get hot. They're the team to watch to see if they suddenly go on a 15-5 run because they have the talent to do it. If Texas goes on a run then I can see Tampa or Minnesota getting in but if not it's hard for me to believe 2 of those 3 will beat the Yankees after 162 games in the standings

I think the fact that Cashman is letting the losses pile up is a sign the he realizes this is not the year.

would sell Gardner, Sabathia (might get a solid prospect for him), sell high on Hicks (Frazier needs to play every day), Betances (Nats are looking for another Reliever/closer),

We just lost to the twins...

I'm just enjoying watching the young players progress (Judge, Sanchez, Frazier, Chad Green, Severino, Montgomery, etc.)

The frustrating part is the division is wide open. The Red Sox and Rays are nothing special, but the Yankees just keep blowing game after game.

I'd keep Hicks. He's still only 27, and maybe he's found something in his game. No reason to ship him off. right now, in my opinion.

Betances is weird. I can see the reason in trading him, but he's still one of the best relievers in the game (regardless of his recent bad stretch), and I'd much prefer keeping him as the bridge to Chapman.

But yes, Frazier needs to play everyday.

Yeah I would probably keep Hicks too.. Frazier-Hicks-Judge, Ellsbury as the 4th OF, Gardner traded..

or maybe we can drop ellsbury off a cliff and keep Gardner as the 4th OF if he doesn't get a good return.

Yankees interested in a Gray/Alonso package. Would absolutely take Gray if we could get it done without Frazier or Torres. Don't know if we could.

Eh, like I said, not sure it's worth buying this season.

If they could get it done without surrendering Frazier, Torres and Rutherford, then I guess it'd be worth it.
Gray under control til 2020. Alonso could be in or not don't care lol. Id move Blake for Gray with Judge Frazier Hicks at mlb level and emergence of Florial and now Mateo again. Fowler as well.

I like Rutherford's potential over Mateo for sure, and maybe even Florial.

We don't know how Fowler will do once he comes back from his injury. I think his hitting will be fine, but his outfield defense will be the biggest question mark.

I'd give Florial and Mateo as a starting point, and maybe even include Wade.

I don't want gray.

Not only will he not put the team over the top this year, I like his chances of staying healthy about as much as I like Zack Wheeler's.

No need to throw big prospects around for big risks.
