What's the deal with TJ Rivera? Is this just a hot streak or can he actually settle in and be a decent 3B for the next few years?

I don't think Rivera can hit righties well enough long term to be an everyday player. I've seen people say he's the next Turner/Murphy if we let him go but lets remember those two guys were not undrafted free agents and were younger when they showed potential.

Chapman doesn't know why he can't miss bats... well for one.. he can't command his pitches and is always in hitters counts..

and 2... PERHAPS YOU SHOULDN"T THROW 23 STRAIGHT FASTBALLS!

can we please please get rid of Joe Girardi?..

Holliday ties the game.. Castro gets on on an error.. Jacoby steals 2nd. Joe refuses to bunt with Headley (who K's shockingly), then Didi (who didn't start cuz of Sale who faced Torres who went 0 for 4) pinch hits for Frazier who is a dead red FB hitter vs Kimbrel who Ks instead of letting Frazier hit and pinch hitting Didi for Cooper (and using Choi as your 1B after).

God, get rid of him please.

Very pleased with how Lugo has looked coming back this year. Makes you think if he was able to take 10 starts from Pill, Montero, Gsellman and that crew, the Mets might be a few games better. Probably for the best, though... Even if we just get a bunch of mediocre prospects for the guys we ship out, better than nothing.

stealing this game from Sale who led with the automatic Kimbrel in the 9th would be a huge win. even after a heartbreaker last night.

pen has blown 18 saves this year..

so of course tonight they throw 9 scoreless innings to steal this one...

Huge win with the season on the line.

Since this is a hockey forum, do the Red Sox remind anyone else of the Habs? Sale is their Price and they can't score more than a run for him. 4th time this season they have lost after he has pitched a perfect 7 innings. Their offense is trash..

Sox are good. They are built on pitching and have one of the best rotations in baseball, lights out closer and 2 other good pen arms in Kelly and Barnes. They grind out at bats. Sox will be a hard out come postseason.

Eh, outside of Sale their rotation isn't really all that special IMO.

Price is overpaid and can't pitch in the post season, Porcello has predictably regressed and Pomeranz can barely get through 5 innings. Rodriguez is a bit of a wild card, hes been a mixed bag so far in his career.

I think they're 1 and done again this year.

Price has pitched better lately. I'd take Sox rotation over Astros any day. Astros rotation after Keuchel and McCullers is a mess. Who else starts for them in a 7 game series? Charlie Morton? Peacock? That's a team in desperate need of another mid rotation arm. No doubting their big 3 (Altuve, Springer, Correa). Both Correa and Springer have taken big steps this year. In a 7 game series between these 2 I'd pick Astros but it's closer than people think.

Houston is by far and away the best team in the AL and its not particularly close at all.

And their rotation is sort of overrated too. They have 2 guys pitching over their heads for sure and their pen is so-so. LA right now should be the automatic favorite to win the World Series. Their rotation is not spectacular but if they have a lead after 5 you're in trouble. Their dangerous series is gonna be the first one vs Arizona or whoever. If they get past that I don't see them getting stopped by anyone.

Astros will add another arm for sure. Also, Price has melted in big spots before all the time actually and Porcello's cy young last season was a fluke. Sale vs Kuechel and McCullers vs Price. I take the Astros. Kuechel has been every bit as good as Sale this year and absolutely no team in the league can mash like Houston.

There is quite a bitnof chatted around this deGrom to the Astros trade talks.

If they can net a Bregman and Fisher, they should seriously look at it.

That's obviously not enough, but that should be a starting package. Add from there.

It'd give them a young starting 3rd baseman and CF. Add some pitching prospects and I'd consider it.
