Tebow's stats are still that of like a 4OF in A ball. He can play at this level, not gonna be the worst player, but I highly doubt he'll get to the majors. Maybe he'll get a game or two just to sell tickets, but I don't think he will stick in the majors. If his name wasn't Tim Tebow, no one would care. Hits for no average, no power, plays a poor OF, doesn't steal any bases.

Tebow is a total non-prospect. The point is just that it's pretty amazing and a testament to the guy's work ethic and natural athletic ability that he's able to jump into baseball at 29 and have any success at all. It's likely true that were he not Tim Tebow, he wouldn't have been promoted from Columbus. But he didn't rest on his laurels, he has continued to work and in a small sample has actually been better. Props to him, I guess is the point of me bringing him up.

Was never his biggest fan either, but I respect the hell out of his passion and drive to be a professional athlete. Good for him for doing well. I'm sure he could be making a ton more money sitting behind desk at espn talking about the college football.
Yep, he'll always be able to do that but he can live the dream now.

That's what bugs me about this. Good for Tebow enjoying life but I don't care so why do I get all these messages from ESPN and the like every time he catches a ball or something? Give me updates on actual Met prospects please.

It's just funny. He was awful in the AFL (understandable given he hadn't played ball in 12 years at that point) and Olney said--being dead serious--that his game was best suited for HS baseball. The fact that he has posted a .709 OPS over two levels of A ball is pretty amazing given the initial analysis by the pros.

Pineda needs tommy john surgery..

That might just end his career.

Why would this end his career? TJS is hardly career threatening.

This better not cause Cash/Hal n friends to panic for a starter. Lets see where this team is at the end of the month and we can reassess from there, they're going to get a few guys back this week.

He's turning 29, its at least an 18 month recovery for pitchers, he also had shoulder surgery, he will be trying to come back when he's in his 30s realistically..

He'll pitch again. It won't be with the Yankees but he'll be on a mound with someone else.

18 months is on the high end of the recovery time these days, though it may play out that way just because of when surgery will occur (if this happened in april, he would pitch next season.) The timing sucks for him since hes set to be a UFA, can't see him getting a much better deal than the one Evoladi got.

Yankees say Greg Bird's issue is with the os trigonum of his right ankle. Options are a 2nd cortisone shot or surgery (6-8 week recovery).

There's only one option. get the minor surgery done and get him right for next season. how hard can it be to rent a real 1B? geezus

The Pineda injury might explain his ineffectiveness in June. He was probably hiding that injury. His K numbers dropped big time last month.

This is definitely the end for him in a Yankee uniform, though. Wasn't sure if he was going to be resigned at the end of the year, but he more than likely won't be now.

Not surprising for a pitcher who throws as many sliders as he does.

That's why I'm a bit worried about Severino.

Sevy is a near lock to have TJS sometime in the near future unfortunately.

Hes slightly less slider heavy than Pineda and owns better mechanics, but he also over throws and thats just a combo that yields bad results.

Duda is a legit option but the Wilpons are not making a trade and helping the Yankees possibly win a WS. They already leaked last week that Reed to the Nats won't happen.

Would've been awesome if Chapman could have some command for once and miss a bat or three.

Letting them hit the ball anywhere near where Chase Headley has to make a play, you deserve what you get.

Sitting Frazier against a lefty and continuing to give Torreyes starts, well that's just to be expected at this point.

Sell.

With the resurgence of Curtis and Bruce's good season, the Mets have a couple of pieces that can attract some decent prospects.

Not sure what they get for either. I think there are two problems with Bruce. He has historically been terrible in the 2nd half and most GMs probably know that. Also Sandy is going to be countered with "all you gave up last year in a better seller's market was a 2B who is currently batting .248 in AAA" Granderson won't get back much. I would probably be nice to Granderson and if I did trade him try and move him to Milwaukee or the Cubs so he's close to home. I don't see the Cubs wanting him, but Milwaukee MIGHT. If the Mets were to get back close to .500 or over in the next 15 games and Colorado starts sliding closer to 5 over .500 I probably sell of Bruce and Duda only and hope that if Familia/Syndergaard/Harvey come back I can steal that 2nd WC hoping Conforto/Flores/Rivera can make up the loss on offense from Bruce and Duda.

What's the deal with TJ Rivera? Is this just a hot streak or can he actually settle in and be a decent 3B for the next few years?
