Go 8/$200 for Machado.
Put together package of Gray/Andujar for Kluber. Add in another prospect, likely an arm, if you have to. Put together a lethal staff. I want Machado more because it makes trading Andujar easier to swallow while getting an ace, than I want Machado because he is a a great player.
Sign Ottavino and go to WAR
Kluber
Severino
Paxton
Tanaka
Happ

Ottavino

Britton
Chapman
Kluber is more important than Machado. But getting Machado covers what we would need to give up to get Kluber. You cant bank on DJ playing 3B. You cant bank on Tulo staying healthy. Tulo is here on a 1 year deal.Been saying this for weeks!
With that roster it will be a slugfest all season between the Yankees and Boston. Would make for a great season(s).
Him in tears on the field, thinking he was being dealt, that was something. And then walking it off the next game, that shit is legitimately legendary.Real American Hero of our Time Wilmer Flores.
This is my second favorite Wilmer Flores memory.Him in tears on the field, thinking he was being dealt, that was something. And then walking it off the next game, that **** is legitimately legendary.
If they still made "Best (XYZ Sports) Moments" VHS tapes, that Wilmer moment would be on there and I'd absolutely pay $9.95 plus shipping and handling to rewind it over and over.
Agree and disagree. Harper’s lefty bat is way more valuable at least for us.I'd rather have Harper than Machado
Judge
Harper
Stanton
is more appealing IMO.
And Harper leaves the door open to keeping Andujar.Agree and disagree. Harper’s lefty bat is way more valuable at least for us.
But Machado opens the door to trading Andujar in a package to get you Kluber. You cant do that with any of your OFs including Frazier
Machado's agent emphatically denied the reports about the White Sox and Machado. Called out Olney and Nightengale by name, said that their sources were either uninformed or were intentionally misleading the reporters to try to influence the market for Machado. It's one of the most strongly-worded statements I've seen from an agent and definitely one of the longest. Of course the agent wouldn't want everyone to think the market for Machado was ****, but the seriousness of the statement makes me think the numbers that came out about the White Sox offer are probably bull**** or preliminary figures that may have been discussed.

Kluber will be here for what the next 2 years? Does he have 3 left? You have Happ 2-3. Control of Paxton. You are not looking to win just one World Series with Judge, Sanchez, Torres, Severino as young as they are.
And Harper leaves the door open to keeping Andujar.

IDK, could be. But Lozano is a huge agent that has negotiated hundreds of millions in contracts over the years. He's f***ing loaded and probably not personally concerned with missing out on a couple million more bucks, so I don't know that he'd be desperate. He's also never been a Boras-type to leverage the media or use certain tools in the press to work on his behalf. So what you suggest is definitely possible, but I'm actually inclined to believe him.To me, it sounds like a desperate agent trying to show there is more interest in a client then there really is.

Heyman seemed to lend credence to it as well.
This offseason has been one of the weirdest free agencies and I'm not sure what to make of all it.
The quid pro quo happens all the time. It's what I was referring to with Boras. To this point, Lozano hasn't been known to be one of them. Of course, that doesn't mean he's not, but he's not usually referenced as an agent who leverages media guys.Still would harm his reputation. 26 year old super star at a premium position cant get an epic contract. I also wouldn't put it past some of these agents to get into a quid pro quo with these media talking heads not in the form of cash but I'll give you the digs before anyone else type thing so they get his message out.
