Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
The guy actually has a history of being reasonably productive in the minutes the team can afford to give him.

It's definitely a smarter target than the Oilers usual move of bringing in someone, cutting 3 minutes off their TOI, giving them no PP time, then being surprised when they don't produce to expectation.

Hopefully they upgrade the goaltending though. Otherwise spending assets on rentals is likely a waste of time lol

Agreed that we aren’t done but we don’t have a 1st this year.

First rounder next year might be more valuable. Better draft.

Well now ...have to admit i was wrong about the acquisition cost of Trent. Also that he is on LTIR till the playoffs allows us to still have a shot at a goalie and an upgrade on D. Wait is he on LTIR yet? If not he soon should be lol.
Max Jones otherwise known as Mr. Inconsistent.

Our penalty kill should improve and energy level should be up in the bottom 9.

I've never seen Petr play and know less than very little about him.

Lol why are we plugging Frederic into the top 6??

Guys we still have cap space plus we still have our 1st rounder. How on earth do you guys think we are done? We have way too many forwards now
Because his points per 60 over the last several seasons is better than 1st line winger Hopkins

Honestly- I bet they'll at least try it. Just speculation on my part, but Leon and Connor have a lot of say in who they play with, and it's been pretty clear this year that Leon prefers to play with grinders who get him the puck in the offensive zone. He loves playing with Podkolzin, but Pod has negative hands. Frederic at least has 18 and 17 goals the last two years. Maybe they're hoping he will be a stylistic fit who will be able to cash in off of playing with Leon.

I hope I'm wrong, but given how many bodies they have now, I think this might be it up front. If Frederic is out until the playoffs, or if they find a way to move some salary, their next move is probably on the blueline.
Only reason he should ever be up there is if Savoie is the other winger. Frederic will boost our bottom six like crazy.

We do for the draft after which is also way stronger. There was a trade made this year that was with the 2027 1st rounder

Just realized both Frederic and Jones are American.
Do we have to pay Tariffs on both?

There would be no friction if he isn't going to be healthy before playoffs. He obviously wants to play 5 to 10 regular season games which would stop us from adding anyone with big contract this week.

Let's trade 1st ++ for Spencer Knight
To play 10 games he would have to essentially do his rehab in three weeks. That is unrealistic. At best he might be able to play the last few games but he won't be anywhere close to 100%.

There has to be something else we are working on here. I mused on the mains about the possibility of a deal with the Ducks. This has a lot of "what if's" in it - if Arvidsson isn't enjoying it here and is willing to waive to back to California, and if Kane is willing to sit out until the end of the regular season, we can do a deal around Arvidsson (4M) and a collection of picks and prospects (1st, Beau Akey) for John Gibson and Brian Domoulin. Or just Arvidsson and futures for Gibson, and make a play for Oleksiak out of Seattle instead of Dumoulin (my preferred option). There is still room for more deals here, especially if Kane is staying out, and/or if one of our active forwards isn't enjoying his role on the team.

Ducks fans value Dumoulin as low as 3rd round pick. I wouldn't throw in Akey for that. If it's for Rakell I would. 2 x 2nd and Arvidsson should be plenty for Gibson. Or 1st+Arvidsson for both Gibson and Dumoulin

I like the idea of adding Frederic, as a heavy forechecker with some grit will help the team. That said, in a vacuum, this feels an overpayment to me. Johnston's comment about LTIR until the end of the season makes no sense, as otherwise the Oilers paid for double retention for no reason.

If they move out Kane (or he's officially out until playoffs), or any of the other forwards get moved there's still room to play with. But it feels very Oilers for me for this to be the only move and Kane forces himself back into playing before the season ends.

That's not necessarily true. Some players want to come back as soon as they are able, others are fine waiting until they are 100%. The friction could be based on Kane wanting to come back at 80%, with the Oilers telling him to wait until he's as close to 100% as possible. Unfortunately "healthy" in situations like this often isn't "yes" or "no", other than the official doctor's sign off on it.
